Description, properties and composition of the drug

Ammophoska is very popular among gardeners due to its lack of nitrates and good water solubility. It does not contain chlorine, which is considered a substance harmful to plants and humans.

Ammofoska is a universal top dressing for almost all types of plants and soil.

It is suitable for both dry areas and wet, swampy soils. However, it should be remembered that this fertilizer causes the rapid growth of greenery, so it is inappropriate to apply it in the fall.

Ammophoska contains 4 main elements, which are combined in quantity. Each of them plays a role in increasing the yield:

  • Nitrogen. It is the main ingredient that plants need to grow well. It is quite volatile, evaporates quickly, therefore fertilizer never just left on the surface. Nitrogen can significantly increase the amount harvest, however, it is important not to overdo it, so as not to harm the plants. In a complex fertilizer it is not more than 12%, so an overdose is almost impossible.
  • Phosphorus. This element is very important for the normalization of plant respiration, photosynthesis. If there is not enough phosphorus, the plant will grow slowly and bloom late. For lush greenery and a rich harvest, phosphorus is essential.
  • Potassium. Potassium increases the immunity of plants, their resistance to various diseases and pests, increases the quantity of the crop and its quality. In the composition of the fertilizer, it is about 15%.
  • Sulfur. Sulfur is essential for the normal assimilation of nitrogen. In combination with other substances, sulfur is completely absorbed and assimilated by plants, without affecting the acidity of the soil. Ammofosk contains 14% sulfur.

Ammophoska is quite effective, non-toxic and has its advantages compared to organic fertilizers. For example, it has a granular structure, which makes it economical to use. It is cheaper than organic. Ammophoska is easy to use and dissolve. There is no need to wait long for the composition to be prepared, or to carry out any additional preparatory procedures.

Advantages and disadvantages

Advantages and disadvantages

The benefits of ammophoska are known to every gardener who wants to get a rich harvest. Sometimes organic fertilizers are more effective for plants, but they are too expensive to use for large plantations. Then the concentrated and more economical ammophoska comes to the rescue.

Its advantages:

  1. Ammofoska reduces the amount of nitrates in the finished crop. It is non-toxic and has no harmful effect on fruits and roots.
  2. Fertilizer can be applied at any time of the year, while organic fertilizers are usually seasonal.Mineral fertilizer can be applied already at the end of March, when the snow melts.
  3. This complex can be used as top dressing and as a basic fertilizer. It can be applied to the soil before landing or to feed the plants already in the process of growth and flowering.
  4. The fertilizer does not have any unpleasant odor and does not require lengthy preparation. It is very easy to use both neat and diluted. It dissolves quickly in water.
  5. You can buy ammophoska at any gardening store or order it online.
  6. The fertilizer contains approximately the same amount of phosphorus and nitrogen, which increases its effectiveness and nutritional properties.

There are few disadvantages of ammophos:

  1. Some gardeners consider the disadvantages of this fertilizer its some danger (hazard class 4), which requires compliance with certain safety rules. However, any chemical compound and fertilizer requires careful handling. Ammophos is non-toxic, but it should be kept as far away from small children and pets as possible.
  2. It's believed that mineral fertilizers still affect the acidity of the soil, but with the correct use of ammophoska, the acidity of the soil will not change.
  3. Sometimes such a composition is simply not enough to enrich depleted soil, so you have to spend on the purchase of additional elements that are not contained in the complex fertilizer.

It is also worth remembering that in different periods of growth and flowering, the plant requires a different amount of certain minerals. Therefore, ammophoska cannot be considered an absolutely universal fertilizer.

Use for flowers, vegetables and other plants

Use for flowers, vegetables and other plants

Ammophoska can be used on any soil, closed or open. Due to the non-toxicity of the fertilizer, it can be freely used for greenhouse plants. The amount of drug used will depend on the type of plant.

If the fertilizer needs to be dissolved, the water temperature must be carefully selected. It should not be hot or cold, so as not to reduce the effectiveness of some elements.

Scopes of ammophoska:

  • Potted flowers and flower beds... It is better to fertilize flowers in spring, so that by the time of flowering they gain strength, and the greens are lush enough. Ammophoska is introduced into the soil about 5 cm deep. You can't just sprinkle it on the soil, as most of the nitrogen will evaporate and fertilizer will become less effective. You can distribute fertilizer granules over the soil surface, and from above mulch.
  • Potatoes... Usually organic is recommended for potatoes, but for a large plantation it is too expensive. Ammophoska is more often applied at planting in the amount of 1 tablespoon per 1 well. Fertilizer is applied in granular form without dilution, which is very convenient.
  • Pepper... Peppers can be grown outdoors or in the greenhouse... If these are greenhouse plants, then it is very convenient to apply fertilizer during the spring soil replacement in an amount of up to 30 g per square meter. If the peppers are already planted, then top dressing best done in dissolved form. In this case, ammophoska is dissolved in an amount of 10 tablespoons per 10 liters of water.
  • Tomatoes... Tomatoes are often grown in seedlings, so fertilizing can be done at the time of planting. seedlings into the ground. It is useful to feed tomatoes during flowering a solution of ammophoska, and also some time after the appearance of the first ovaries.
  • Pear... All gardeners living in the middle lane know that it is very difficult to get a rich pear harvest. Fertilizer is best applied in spring: 100 g if the tree is over 10 years old, 50 g if the tree is young. Root system pear tree is located deep underground, therefore fertilizer is applied to a depth of 30 cm using special wells.

  • Clothing should be special, working, so that it can then be immediately removed. On the hands should be tight rubber gloves that will not break in the process.
  • Do not use any food utensils for the ammophoska solution. After using the fertilizer, the gloves and bandage are thrown away, the clothes are removed, and the hands and face are thoroughly washed with soap.
  • If the solution comes into contact with the skin, it must be rinsed with plenty of water. If fertilizer gets into the eyes or mucous membranes, it is also necessary to rinse the affected area and consult a doctor for examination.
  • The most dangerous thing is to swallow the drug. If this happens, drink plenty of water and induce vomiting. You can take sorbents such as activated carbon. After that, it is imperative to consult a doctor.
  • Despite the presence of useful components in the composition, fertilizer is used exclusively for agricultural purposes and, if care is not taken, can harm a person. Frequent inhalation of fluoride should be especially avoided. They can cause intoxication and an allergic reaction, irritating the mucous membranes of the nose, larynx, and bronchi.

The closed packaging of ammophoska can be stored for a long time. The expiry date must be indicated. If the package has already been opened, it is advisable to use it within the same day. Nitrogen, as mentioned above, evaporates. If you leave the package open, fertilizer will lose some of its nutritional properties. If necessary, you can store part of the fertilizer in a tightly closed glass container.
