How to plant an apple tree correctly
Novice gardeners ask themselves: how to plant an apple tree correctly?
To begin with, you should attend to the preparation of suitable soil for planting. Loamy soil is preferable for apple trees. Therefore, add peat or river sand to the clay soil. If on your site the soil is mostly sandy, then add humus or peat.
It is necessary to prepare a pit for planting an apple tree approximately 5 days before this event. A hole is dug to a depth of 80 cm, and the width should be from 90 cm to 1 meter.
Do not throw away the top layer of soil formed when digging a hole! It is the most fertile and will come in handy for further planting. Discard the top fertile layers separately from the ones below.
The bottom of the finished pit must be loosened up with a shovel. Then those very upper layers of fertile land are poured there. It is necessary that its layer is 15-20 cm.
You can add fertilizer, 1-2 buckets of dung and wood ash. All this is mixed with the earth, adding some more topsoil.
Then the remaining volume of the pit is covered with earth so that a small mound, approximately 20 cm high, forms on the surface.
If this is not done, then you will have to replant the seedling, which is undesirable for him in the first winter.
A peg is driven into the center of the earthen mound - a support for the seedling. The seedling is placed on top of a mound, its roots are straightened over it and covered with a fertile layer of earth with light tamping.
Two hands may not be enough for planting, therefore, when asked how to plant an apple tree correctly, we can give advice: use the help of households or neighbors.
Water the seedling abundantly: the water consumption should be 3-4 buckets of 10 liters for each tree.
The stem of the seedling must not be covered with soil. The roots of the apple tree located at the trunk should be covered with soil and be 5-10 cm below the surface. The rest of the roots spread deeper into the pit.
