How should radishes be planted in spring?
Radish has a fairly high cold resistance and is practically not afraid of frost, therefore, planting radish in the spring even before the normal temperature regime is established is quite a common practice among gardeners. This culture has more than a short growing season: the fruits, depending on the characteristics of the soil, in particular, its moisture and nutritional value, the sowing period, as well as the variety itself, ripen in 25-40 days. Planting radishes in spring can be carried out at several times (as a rule, in three to four visits until the beginning of June).
Seeds should be sown in even rows, between which there should be about six, and preferably ten centimeters. When planting, the seeds simply spill out into the soil without observing the distance between them, however, after the first breakthrough, there should be 3-4 centimeters of free space between individual root crops of round varieties, and long ones - 4-7 centimeters. The recommended planting density is two to three grams per square meter of land, while the seeds, due to their tiny size, must be covered with a sufficiently thin layer of earth - no more than one and a half to two centimeters.
Caring for this crop implies regular removal of weeds that can drown out young plants, thinning, that is, timely removal of the weakest shoots, loosening, which must be carried out at intervals of five to six days, abundant watering, as well as protection of plantings from such pests as garden flea. Radish planted in spring should be harvested as soon as the root crop reaches normal size.
I've started a greenhouse at home. And I don’t know - is it worth growing radishes in greenhouse conditions? What are the features of plucking radish in greenhouses?
