Lubka double-leafed: properties and application

Lyubka two-leaved belongs to the species of perennial herbaceous tuberous plants from the genus Lyubka of the Orchid family. Therefore, it is often called the northern orchid. It reaches a height of 25 cm to 60 cm, has a pair of rather large basal leaves, because of which it got its name. The leaves of Lyubka two-leaved are similar to lily of the valley, but they have a shorter petiole.

Lyubka two-leaved can be found both on dry and excessively moistened soils, while it can withstand even stagnant moisture. The richness and acidity of soils are also not of great importance to her, although acidic soils are more preferable for her. Lyubka two-leaved is capable of developing well in the shade, however, it blooms and bears fruit much better in well-lit places.
 
The most common places where this plant can be found are green moss coniferous forests, mixed and deciduous forests, light forests. Geographically, its habitats are Europe, the North Caucasus and Siberia (up to western Transbaikalia). Lubka two-leaved is very decorative. Due to its high decorative effect in places of natural growth, this plant is massively collected for bouquets, therefore it is included in the list of species that need protection.
 
Lyubka two-leaved is also widely used in folk medicine. A decoction from it effectively treats toothaches, fever, women's diseases, abscesses, poisoning, diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, diarrhea, inflammation of the bladder, nervous exhaustion, inflammatory foci, wounds.
