How to save cut roses
When we are presented with fresh flowers, the greatest desire is to keep them fresh and attractive in our home for as long as possible.
Unfortunately, very often cut flowers do not stay in vases for long, flower petals quickly wither, crumble, the bouquet loses all its aesthetic appeal.
Most often, it is customary to present bouquets of roses, since the rose always remains the queen of flowers. She is beautiful, noble, capable of communicating any feelings that a person wants to express by giving a bouquet.
But roses also tend to wither very quickly. Therefore, the question of how to keep cut roses fresh is of concern to many.
So, what can be done to preserve the pristine beauty of the rose longer?
- The first thing to do is to put the stem of the rose under a stream of cold water and remove the lower thorns and leaves.
- Use a sharp knife to cut the lower part of the stem of the rose so that it is oblique (from 40 to 50 degrees). This must also be done under running cold water.
- In order for the flower to have enough moisture, the tip of the stem can be split, cut, slightly peeling off the green skin from it.
- But the water in the vase for a bouquet of roses needs to be warm, settled.
- A special nutritious concentrate, which can now be bought in many flower shops, will help prolong the life of the bouquet.
- The ordinary refined sugar added to the water also has a beneficial effect on the life of roses. The proportion should be approximately 30 g of sugar per liter of water.
If you ask a professional florist about how to preserve cut roses, he may advise adding an aspirin and activated charcoal to a vase of water.
In addition to the listed methods of preserving a rose, you also need to correctly place a vase with a bouquet in the room, because the rose is afraid of drafts and even if there is sugar and aspirin in the water, it will wither very quickly.
