Pepper cow's ear

Like any other sweet pepper variety, Cow's Ear is a thermophilic plant that requires much more heat than tomatoes and cucumbers. In the shade, the pepper grows weakly, the fruits do not reach the size provided for by this variety.

Does not like peppers to grow in the place where they were in the previous season tomato, but on well-fertilized soil after cruciferous vegetables such as cabbage, broccoli, kohlrabi, turnip, pepper feel great.

Growing and care

Peppers are grown in seedlings. In order to get high-quality seedlings, seeds are sown in late March - early April in boxes with pre-prepared soil. There are little secrets here:

  • the soil for seedlings is taken from the place on which the pepper will grow in the future. Thus, it will be easier for seedlings to get used to new growth conditions;
  • sand is added to the ground in a ratio of 5: 1. 3 - 4 handfuls of wood ash are mixed into one bucket of the resulting mixture. The soil is watered and left for two days to settle. Simultaneously soak the seeds in lukewarm water;
  • the box with sown seeds must be located in a room with a temperature of at least +18 degrees.

You should take into account the fact that the germination of pepper seeds is about 50%, so you need to sow seeds 2-3 times more than the amount that you planned to grow.

For picks seedlings, the soil is prepared in the same way as for sowing seeds, adding potassium-phosphorus fertilizer. Two stalks of pepper are placed in each diving cup if the seedlings are planted in open ground.

Seedlings are planted at a distance of about 40 centimeters from each other. Pegs must be prepared for each plant. Periodically it is necessary to loosen the soil. Before the flowering of pepper, watering is carried out by sprinkling. But after flowering, they begin to water at the root.

For glaze you need to take warm water (about +25 degrees). During flowering and fruiting, peppers need to be fed with complex fertilizers to get a good harvest.

When planting in a greenhouse, as well as under a film cover, the pepper must be ventilated during flowering, otherwise the flowers may fall off. Pepper does not tolerate too high a temperature (+30 degrees and above), especially if the air is too dry.

Pepper is very easily pollinated, and if you plant any kind of hot pepper next to the Ox's ear, then the ripe fruits may lose their original taste, and hot pepper will grow from the seeds of such a fruit next year.

Pepper The cow's ear is distinguished by good resistance to diseases of pepper such as verticillosis and phytoplasmosis. But he can be affected by pests such as:

  • aphid. Disappears after insecticide treatment;
  • spider mite. Disappears after treatment with a solution of garlic and onion tincture with the addition of liquid soap;
  • slugs are naked. They should be destroyed, and the plants should be sprinkled with tobacco dust. The ground around the plant can be sprinkled with mustard;
  • Colorado beetle. Spraying with celandine tincture helps.
