Planting and caring for cannes in the middle lane

Planting and caring for cannes should take into account that they grow well, blooming profusely in sheltered from the wind, light areas with loose fertile soil. They need space and abundant watering.

In the conditions of central Russia in March – April, they need to begin to prepare for planting in open ground. To begin with, the rhizomes are placed in a loose material (shavings, high moor peat) in a humid warm place.

After the start of germination, cannes can be divided, leaving 2-3 buds. When using larger pieces (after removing the drying parts), the bush will turn out to be much larger.

Divided rhizomes with sprouted buds and roots are planted in large pots to a depth of several centimeters. The soil should be warm and well lit.

Cannes are "resettled" in the garden after the final cessation of frosts, choosing a quiet place, sufficiently illuminated by the sun. For top dressing, readily soluble fertilizers with a high phosphorus content and a small nitrogen content are used.

Given the considerable size of the cannes bush, they are planted at a distance from each other, not exceeding 60 cm. To create a small dense curtain, you can place it a little closer, about 6-7 pieces per square meter.

Well-developed cannes, planted in open ground in June, bloom magnificently in a month, while strong flower stalks do not require any support.

In autumn, when frost occurs, the cannes must be dug out so that the rhizomes do not freeze and placed in a bucket with earth. In winter, cannes are stored in a cool room, occasionally moistening the soil.
