Alyssum perennial and its cultivation

This unpretentious cruciferous perennial is often called a plant for the lazy. It is very unpretentious and grows well on almost any soil, as long as they are not constantly damp. He needs open sunny places, here perennial alyssum grows abundantly and blooms profusely throughout the growing season. The plant is often used in rock gardens, rockeries, mixborders, rabatki. Modern varieties are created specifically for landscape design. They are short and compact.

Like many perennials, alyssum reproduces vegetatively and by seeds. However, its propagation is preferable to seeds. Delenki do not take root well and get sick for a long time. In order for the plant to bloom early, a seedling method of germinating seeds is recommended. The seeds are very small, so when sowing they are mixed with dry sand and not embedded in the soil. The seedling boxes should be kept in the light, covered with plastic or glass. The soil in them is moistened by spraying. Seedlings appear on the 5-10th day. After that, you need to ventilate the boxes and remove the resulting condensation. When they have real leaves, the film or glass is removed. Perennial alissum can be dived at the stage of two or three true leaves, and planted in the ground when the threat of frost has passed.

If early flowering is not required, seeds can also be sown outdoors, in autumn or spring. They are simply pressed into the soil a little, but they are not covered. In spring sowing, in warm and humid weather, seedlings will appear in about a week. They must be thinned out, the distance between the plants is 15-20 centimeters. Flowering in this case should be expected in July.
