Home care for geraniums
Today there are a huge number of indoor plants, among which geranium is especially popular.
Many years ago, geraniums grew only in natural conditions. However, breeders have bred many varieties of this plant and now there are about a hundred species of geraniums.
Since indoor geranium can bloom almost all year round, it can become a decoration for any home. At the same time, caring for geraniums at home is not as difficult as it might seem at first glance.
In addition, the flower has valuable antiseptic properties. The aroma of the essential oil contained in geranium has a soothing effect.
Among the types of indoor geranium, ampelous, red, white, fragrant and royal geraniums are especially popular. In this case, the color of flowers can be very diverse.
Despite the huge number of varieties, home care for geraniums is the same for any variety.
First of all, you need to know that geranium is very fond of fresh air and bright sunlight, so you should choose a suitable place for it. The plant easily reacts to changes in temperature, so in winter even 8 degrees will be enough, although for some species a temperature of at least 12 degrees is recommended.
The soil for geraniums should be loose and drained with a neutral acidity level. For some varieties, the use of acidic soil is allowed.
It is best to grow geraniums in small pots. Home care for geraniums also consists of moderate watering, regular fertilization of the soil, removing dry leaves, and pruning the tops to give the plant a bushy shape.
my aunt always grew geraniums. And her flowers were always low and bloomed very profusely. And why? She poured boiling water over them in a tray.
