Features and Benefits
This company was founded in 1865 and from a small factory has grown into a huge concern, which has several factories throughout Europe, and also has quality certificates according to European standards. Now the products of the Beckers company are rightfully considered one of the best in the world and have a huge number of advantages over the products of other brands.
A wide range of products allows you to purchase products for any type of work, and a wide palette of colors will allow you to choose a paint for every taste. The main advantage of Beckers paints is their complete safety not only during use, but even during the production process, where only environmentally friendly raw materials are used. Paints are available in volumes of 3 or 10 liters and can be found in almost any hardware store.
The company produces paint and varnish coatings for external and internal surfaces. Below are the most popular products in each category.
Application area
Rubber emulsions are universal and are used for all types of paintwork. The paint is well applied and lasts a long time on concrete, wallpaper, putty, brick, chipboard and fiberboard, wood, asbestos-cement, asphalt surfaces and on galvanized iron. The material can be applied to surfaces previously painted with all types of paints: alkyd, acrylic, latex and oil. The emulsion can be used to strip asphalt and running tracks, tennis courts, and can also be used to paint roofs, fences, gazebos, walls and floors. Due to its good plasticity, it perfectly smoothes small cracks and seams, hides irregularities and gives the surface an attractive appearance.
Technical specifications
SuperDecor rubber paint appeared on the construction market relatively recently, but in a short time it managed to gain popularity and numerous positive reviews. It consists of water, acrylate latex, coalescent, antifreeze, preservative and special additives in the form of a color scheme and color pigment. The consistency of the paint resembles mastic. It is one of the few materials that can be used to paint galvanized iron.
If necessary, the paint is diluted with water. The use of solvents is not recommended. The drying time of the painted surface is from 30 to 60 minutes and depends on the humidity of the air and the temperature conditions of the external environment. One liter contains 1.1 kg of enamel. Material consumption on painted and primed bases is 120-150 grams per square meter, on wallpaper, chipboard, drywall and fiberboard - 190 g, on concrete and plaster - 250 g. The paint is produced according to TU 2316-001-47570236-97 and has the necessary quality and conformity certificates.
Features and Benefits
A distinctive characteristic of rubber paints is the ability to form a durable and elastic coating on the surface to be painted, which has high flexibility and water resistance. The enamels are intended for painting complex substrates with low porosity and characterized by a smooth surface and poor absorbency. Hard-to-paint surfaces include laminate, plastic and metal. Previously, for their high-quality painting, it was required to apply special primers that increase the adhesion of the base with an enamel coating and the use of special paints and varnishes.
The demand and high consumer demand for Super Decor rubber paints are due to the following advantages of the material:
- The flexibility and elasticity of the formed film prevents cracking and flaking. When staining wooden surfaces, the wood becomes like plastic, and when wet, the paint layer stretches along with the wood. This ensures reliable protection of wooden surfaces from moisture penetration and prevents the appearance of mold and mildew.This property of rubber paint makes it possible to paint easily deformable surfaces without the risk of delamination and peeling of the decorative layer;
- High wear resistance and durability of the emulsion make it possible to use the material under any conditions. The paint tolerates direct exposure to ultraviolet rays and atmospheric precipitation, it is heat- and frost-resistant and has high waterproofing properties. The paint is not afraid of sudden temperature jumps and retains its properties in the range from -50 to 60 degrees;
- Anti-slip effect makes it possible to use the emulsion for painting floors and roofs;
- Noble appearance. The paint is compatible with any color scheme, which gives a wide scope for creativity and helps to realize the most daring design decisions;
- Environmental safety and hygiene of the emulsion allow it to be used in residential and public spaces without risk to human health. High moisture-repellent properties make it possible to regularly wash the surface without fear of damaging the decorative layer. Despite its high moisture resistance, the paint is good air permeability and allows the surface to breathe. Due to the absence of solvents in the composition, the enamel dries quickly and does not have a pungent odor;
- Excellent adhesion rates ensure excellent adhesion of the paint layer to metal, wood, plastic, slate and any other material. Throughout the entire service life, the paint does not flake, crack or bubble.
- The incombustibility of the material increases the fire safety of the painted room;
- One liter of rubber paint is enough to paint five square meters of surface in two layers.
Gloss degree
Everything is simple here - the matte the paint, the less the jambs will be visible. The degree of gloss (gloss) is indicated in special units that are indicated on the cans. Super matte paints have a score of 2-3. 7 units already glitters. But deuce deuce - strife. In my subjective opinion, the most matte paint is, again, Paritet Facade. It is followed by Caparol, Tikkurila is all shiny, like Dulux.
But here not everything is clear. Generally, the higher the gloss level of the paint, the more durable it is. For example, I rubbed Dulux Bindo 7 vigorously with sponges and rags, and for her - at least henna. And only Paritet combines power and matte.
I will give a list of all the paints that I have worked with for 3 years, and subjective assessments on a ten-point scale:
- Tikkurila Harmony - 5
- Tikkurila Euro 2 - 4
- Dulux Dazzling White - 4
- Dulux New Dazzling White - 4
- Dulux Dazzling White 3D White - 4
- Dulux Office Room - 7
- Dulux Bindo 7 - 5
- Dulux Vinyl Matt - 4
- Finncolor Oasis - 3
- Caparol Indeco Plus - 6
- Paritet Facade Mate & Strong - 9
- Element 1-4 - 3
- Marshall Maestro - 3
Let's summarize. It is not necessary to buy deliberately pale. Like Lacra or Tex. But overpaying for the brand is also often not worth it (I'm talking about Tikkuril). Parity and Caparol are a proven quality. If you have read my article on do-it-yourself decorative plaster, then remember that the main layer of paint and wash are made there.
So, for the main layer (substrate) it is necessary to use a very resistant paint, and for the wash - a cheap one, for ceilings, without resistance to washing. I can tell you that Finncolor Oasis is perfect for this.
Exterior paints
For surfaces located on the outside of buildings, Beckers offers two types of primers, four types of paints and a special impregnation. These products are manufactured for painting external facades, metal and concrete surfaces.
Beckers Putsprimer LS is a primer containing silicone additives. It is used for painting brick surfaces or ceramics. Beckers Putsgeund's universal styrene resin primer is suitable for all substrates.
Types of paints:
- Beckers Putsfasadfarg P. This type is used to work on already plastered surfaces and concrete facades. It contains acrylic resin, which, when dried, creates an additional film for protection.
- Beckers Akrylatfarg.This product is water-based and used for painting concrete, wood and metal substrates. The paint dries very quickly, does not fade and matts the wall.
- Beckers Golvfarg. This type of paint is made for wood, concrete floors and linoleum. It also resists the effects of oily liquids.
- Beckers Sockelfarg. This paint is made on the basis of water and mattes the base. It contains latex, which contributes to the additional strength of the coating. As a rule, it is used for application to the foundation and drain pipe.
Becker also produces Beckers Regnostopp colorless impregnation, which ensures the formation of a water-repellent film on the outer walls of the building and faster drying of the next layers of paint.
General recommendations for the application of Beckers facade paint
Beckers facade paint can be applied to almost any surface, however, they must be prepared in advance. If we are talking about new wooden bases that have been primed in the factory, then they should be cleaned with a brush, ensuring that the dirt is completely removed. This also applies to glazed walls. When working with moldy wooden walls, it is necessary to first treat them with special means like Ute-Mogeltvatt. In the next step, the surface is primed and the joints and seams are treated with Grundolja oil.
Beckers paint can also be applied to concrete surfaces, but if they are new, the work should not start earlier than two months after the completion of construction. The surface must be matte. Plastic, aluminum, galvanized and painted substrates are washed with the already mentioned Malartvatt compound, and then with water. Rusty areas are cleaned with a steel brush and then primed.
For outdoor work
Beskers products have a large selection of exterior paints. They protect the surface from contact with the external environment.
- For painting bricks and ceramics, Putsprimer LS primer mix or Putsgeund primer is suitable.
- For concrete facades or plaster surfaces, paint with acrylic resin Beckers Putsfasadfarg P is suitable: creating a film, it reliably protects the painted surface from abrasion.
- Fast drying and weather resistant, Akrylatfarg can be used on wood and metal.
- For work on linoleum and concrete, they buy Beckers Golvfarg paint.
- Beckers Sockelfarg is made with the addition of latex, which enhances its durability. It is good for covering foundations and gutter pipes.
Useful Tips
In the process of working with Super Decor rubber emulsion, it is advisable to follow some recommendations:
In the process of choosing a material, the purpose of the emulsion should be taken into account. Many manufacturers produce products with a narrow focus, where a specialized paint is provided for each surface.
For example, material for outdoor work contains more frost-resistant additives, and an emulsion intended for concrete contains an increased volume of acrylic latex;
If the repair work is postponed indefinitely, then when buying, you should pay attention to the shelf life of the material. You should also read the accompanying documentation.
This will help to avoid the acquisition of a fake and will act as a guarantor of the high quality of the goods;
- Before painting, the surface of untreated wood must be sanded and treated with an antiseptic compound. Metal bases must be cleaned of contamination and degreased. It is advisable to prime concrete walls, and wash alkyd and oily surfaces with a solution of soda or sodium phosphate;
- It is necessary to paint in calm weather and at a relative humidity of not more than 80%. Direct exposure to sunlight during work is also not recommended;
- To obtain a deeper color and increase the wear resistance of the coating, it is desirable to apply the rubber paint in several thin layers. The time interval between staining should be at least two hours;
- Treatment of a freshly painted surface with antiseptic and detergent compositions can be performed no earlier than 7 days after the completion of work.
Resistance to washing
This is also a very important indicator, especially if you are going to paint the walls. I consider the Paritet Facade to be the benchmark here. Pure power. Caparol is also good at this, I can also highlight the Dulux Office Room, but its whiteness is lame. Tikkurila smokes on the sidelines, various Dulux like Vinyl Matt or Dazzling White - even more so. See for yourself, once I painted a small ceiling (4 sq.m.) with Dulux Dazzling White paint. After some time, I noticed a small speck of dirt on it, took a sponge and gently ran it a couple of times across the ceiling. The result can be seen in the photo:
I had to repaint. As an example, I recorded a video for you at work, where I demonstrate the superiority of Paritet paint over the supposedly also durable paint from Finncolor:
Features of using Beckers Elegant paint
Beckers Elegant paint is applied to a previously prepared surface, which must be cleaned of dirt, dust, treated with a primer. If necessary, putty and level the joints, seams and irregularities. The base is cleaned with gritty emery paper, and the final painting is carried out in one or two layers. Sometimes it also happens that the painted surface needs to be renewed. In this case, it must be rinsed, and then the shiny paint spots must be treated with fine-grained sandpaper to increase adhesion. If there is glue paint on the base, then it is removed with water. If it is not possible to carry out such work, a primer should be applied to the wall. Whitewashed surfaces are treated with a brush, the formed dust must be washed off with water.
Application
Before you start painting the house, the walls should be free of overhanging branches and other interfering plants. Prepare the surface by removing the old finish (Malartvatt can be used). The base must be cleaned, rinsed and primed.
Before painting, cover and glue anything that can get dirty during the painting process. The paint is usually not diluted, it is thoroughly stirred and dyeing is started.
For work with porous, loose surfaces, a reinforcing primer with greater penetrating power is required. This composition promotes high adhesion, it makes the structure of the base uniform.
You should start by removing with a stiff brush the old paint from the wall... Then the cracks are carefully cleaned, putty is applied inside each. All roughness is masked with a sealant in several layers and smoothed with a spatula.
Painting surfaces will look perfect if painted correctly. The technology is simple: with the help of a roller, paint should be applied in horizontal stripes, then the movements are carried out vertically. So they alternate during the entire staining process.
At the final stage, the surface is leveled with a roller in the direction from top to bottom. In doing so, do not apply too much pressure on the tool so that streaks do not form on the surface.
Beckers paints and varnishes are applicable to all surfaces. If the walls are made of wood, they must be thoroughly cleaned of old varnish, paint, primer, mildew and mildew. The prepared surface should be treated with Ute-Mogeltvatt special agent. Then a primer must be applied and the seams must be treated with Grundolja oil.
Beckers paints work well on concrete surfaces. It should be remembered that a fresh coating must not be painted. It should dry out within a few months. When working with concrete, opaque paints are chosen.
You can paint plastic, metal according to the same scheme: it is necessary to clean the base well, rinse with Malartvatt mixture, then with water.
Paint consumption 1 sq. m usually ranges from 120 to 170 g.You can process concrete, plaster, wood, metal, plastic. The paint dries within 3 hours, this must be taken into account when applying the next layer. Coloring is possible at temperatures not lower than +5 degrees.
