Instructions for use
Working with glue takes place in sealed rooms without active air exchange. Such requirements are necessary, because they provide a guarantee that the bonding will be complete. In the instructions attached to the product, it is said about the optimal modes of using the Russian Titan glue. Various modifications of Titan glue make it possible to choose the composition that is necessary for a particular job.
Before use, it is recommended to carefully read the instructions, which contain such recommendations as:
- applied only to a non-greasy surface;
- the layer should be even and thin;
- after application, it is recommended to wait five minutes until the glue dries, only then connect the surfaces;
- at least two layers of glue should be applied to the porous surface;
- you can dilute the adhesive composition to the desired thickness with a solvent;
- for ceiling installation work, Titan is used in a dotted or dotted manner, which allows it to be used more economically.
Before starting work, the plane of the ceiling is carefully prepared, without this stage it will be impossible to obtain high-quality results. The ceiling must be flat, with no obvious differences or defects, otherwise the material will not be able to attach well. If there is a difference of 1 cm per 1 sq. meter, then it is recommended to think about other types of finishes, such as stretch ceilings or drywall.
It is often impossible to remove old paint or plaster from the ceiling. In this case, the joints between the slabs are filled with cement mortar. The plane is treated with a good primer, for example, "Aquastop" or "Betakontakt". If the substance is too thick, white spirit should be added to it to better dissolve. A layer of primer will provide better adhesion of the adhesive to the surface.
If Titan has thickened, it is best to dilute it with white spirit or alcohol. A well-diluted composition better penetrates the micropores of the surface. Seams usually take longer to dry, which should be considered. It takes at least a day for the seam to solidify well. The area is treated with an adhesive composition using a spatula.
Within a few seconds after application, the tile is pressed against the ceiling, after which there is some time to trim it if necessary. When removing glue residues, an old cloth soaked in water is usually used. While the glue is "fresh" it is easy to wash it, there is also a chance to clean clothes without any consequences.
It is worth noting that the glue has a shelf life of one and a half years.
Characteristics and varieties of titanium adhesives
There are several types of "Titan", each type is used for its intended purpose, depending on the goals that are set:
- Universal adhesive. It allows you to glue ceramic, wood, leather products, as well as PVC, carpet, parquet and other floor surfaces. It is used as a ceiling or tile adhesive for construction work with ceiling tiles. It is not difficult to use it. It is necessary to squeeze some glue onto the tile, wait 30-40 seconds and press it against the ceiling. Most often stored in tubes, squeezed out using an attached spout, making it easy to control the thickness of the adhesive layer;
- Glue-mastic. Any housewife will say that mastic consists of water, with sugar and gelatin dissolved in it. The composition of the glue differs from the kitchen "decoration", copying its density, ductility and plasticity, which allow gluing wood boards, polyurethane, gypsum and even bricks;
- Liquid Nails.Liquid nails in the construction industry are glue consisting of synthetic rubber with the addition of special clay (to increase plasticity) or chalk. Due to the fine fraction, the product turns out to be pasty, which makes it possible to combine surfaces that are spaced from each other. In this case, the adhesive surfaces do not need to be pressed against each other. Liquid nails can be used to glue objects made of metal, ceramic, PVC, wood, and polyurethane;
- Powder glue. The most common use of this substance is wallpapering. Powder adhesive must be diluted with water before use. The peculiarity of this type of glue is special antiseptic additives, due to which it is impossible to infect the walls with mold. The glue completely covers the plaster and wallpaper, so that the walls cannot be infected;
- Foam glue. This type is similar to polyurethane foam. It is also made from polyurethane. When in contact with moisture in the air, the adhesive releases carbon dioxide, which in turn affects the polymer. After this process, the usual foam appears as a result. Most often, this type of tool is used during the installation or repair of windows.
Above, five main types of Titan glue were considered. Each of the species can be divided into subspecies. In this case, the glue will be less versatile. For example, there is a glue powder that can only be used for gluing wallpaper of a certain composition (paper, fabric, vinyl). Ceiling glue-mastic can also be cited as an example. Best for plaster and foam ceiling tiles.
Titan glue varieties
The most popular types of glue are found on sale everywhere in construction and hardware stores, supermarkets. There are also a number of specialized formulations that are much more difficult to find, for example:
- Titan Professional EV W (professional winter chemical anchor) is a two-component composition for use at subzero temperatures (up to -18 degrees);
- "Titan PVA D3" - PVA construction glue with increased moisture resistance;
- Titan Thermospray - sprayed polyurethane insulation;
- Power Flex adhesive sealant is a silicone sealant with increased strength.
Universal adhesive
Polymeric universal Titan SM ("Titan CM") and "Titan Wild Premium" - adhesives that have a wide range of applications. They are sold in translucent plastic bottles, conveniently applied through a dispenser. After drying, the seam turns out to be completely transparent, therefore the scope of use of adhesives is not limited to the color of the surface. Most often, funds are purchased for gluing such materials:
- wood;
- PVC;
- polystyrene;
- wood-shaving materials;
- carpet;
- glaze and ceramics;
- leather.
How long does universal glue dry? Enough 1 hour for the composition to dry completely, and the product can be used (without serious mechanical stress). The seam remains flexible and does not deteriorate from vibration, it is moisture-resistant, heat-resistant, but acquires full properties after 24 hours.
Glue-foam "Titan"
Several types of glue-foam are produced under the brand name "Titan" - "Titan Professional 65 Uni" (Professional 65 Uni), Titan Professional Euro for masonry blocks, "Titan 60 seconds", etc. Such products are characterized by high adhesion to mineral substrates, economical in consumption, perfectly fill cracks, pits. The maximum level of adhesion to surfaces is observed after 2 hours. You can work with the compositions at temperatures from -10 degrees. They are used for installation:
- thermal insulation;
- foam silicate blocks;
- ceramic tiles;
- silicate brick;
- gas silicate blocks.
Glue-mastic
Mastic "Titan" is intended for work with tiles, natural and artificial stone, glass, plywood, brick, plaster. It can also be used to glue ceiling tiles, baseboards and decorative elements, plasterboard sheets, chipboard and fiberboard.Mastic can be used for leveling bases, sealing any defects.
The composition is frost-resistant, heat-resistant, lasts a long time, does not deteriorate. You can work with it at temperatures from +8 degrees. Despite the fact that the mastic sets in 20 seconds, it will not be possible to quickly dry the glue joint completely, it takes 12 hours. The glue consists only of safe components, there are no solvents in it.
Liquid Nails
Among analogues (such as "Moment", "Epoxy-Titan 6 BL" and others), liquid nails of the "Titan" brand stand out for their high degree of adhesion, economical consumption, and moderate cost. They are available in tubes of 200-310 ml, and the large package is additionally equipped with a glue gun. The most popular adhesives in this series are:
- "Titanium rubber glue for roofing" - a roofing compound that reliably holds together metal sheets, tiles, tiles, PVC gutters;
- assembly Classic Fix ("Classic Fix") - a rubber-based product for any interior and exterior work;
- assembly Hydro Fix - a water-based general construction adhesive used in interior work and for gluing porous materials;
- assembly Heavy Duty is a universal tool for finishing works in construction.
The adhesion to surfaces of liquid nails is so strong that they can be an excellent alternative to metal nails, screws. They are used for fixing tiles and stone, polystyrene and polyurethane, gypsum, cement, brick, cork and other materials. The compositions cannot be applied only to products made of polyethylene, polypropylene and on damp substrates, although after drying the glue line will be moisture resistant.
Powder
Dry powder is understood as adhesives "Titan" for wallpaper, which include three types - for paper, non-woven, vinyl. The instructions for use contain all the necessary data on the dilution of funds. They can be easily dissolved in water according to the indicated proportions, mixed and used as directed after 5 minutes. The composition contains additives from fungus and mold, as well as special components that facilitate the adjustment of the position of the canvases on the wall.
Characteristics of Titan glue
The properties of Titan glue depend on its type. In the form of a foam, for example, the formulation ignores ultraviolet radiation. It darkens ordinary polyurethane foam and makes it brittle. "Titan" is used in street work. If the foam is covered with plaster and other "facades", then only for the sake of beauty, and not the safety of the sealant.
In a bottle with foam, the Titan glue is transparent, but at the exit it becomes cloudy. When solidified, the mixture becomes light beige. Gas bubbles are enclosed in closed "honeycomb". They do not communicate with each other.
Consequently, Titan foam is moisture resistant. This makes the material fit for facade works... For domestic use, "Titan" is also ideal, since it does not contain freons. These are gases in which methane is mixed with ethane.
They talk about the dangers of the mixture. However, it is not she herself that is harmful, but the released tetrafluoroethylene. It is formed at temperatures above 400 degrees. That is, foams with freons are potentially dangerous only in the event of a fire.
However, during it, poisons will have something to stand out from. The emphasis on the absence of freons in the Titan glue is more of a marketing ploy than a real advantage.
General characteristics of Titan glue in foam and in the form of mastic are heat resistance. In the frozen form, the products withstand at least 140 degrees. The wallpaper series cannot boast of a sim.
On the other hand, Titan powder adhesives have narrowly targeted advantages. The first is slipperiness. It allows you to move the canvases on the wall, adjusting the pattern on the wallpaper. To make them easier to stick, Titan powder dissolves in water without the formation of lumps. This is the second plus of the mixtures. It dries up in 5 minutes.
The composition and purpose of the glue
Before using Titan glue, you need to understand the main areas of its application.
Rubber
It is a universal adhesive made from synthetic rubber. In the construction industry, it is used for gluing cornices, battens, wood panels and planks. It is also used when working with metal, plaster and plastic surfaces. The distinctive features of rubber compounds include a high level of their elasticity and good adhesion to most surfaces.
The product is completely transparent and therefore does not spoil the appearance of the materials to be glued.
Polyurethane
Polyurethane adhesive mixtures are used for laying boards made of compressed polystyrene foam. Most often, such material is used during thermal insulation of internal or external walls, foundations, floors and roofs.
The main advantages of polyurethane products include ease of use and heat resistance, due to which the glue does not lose its properties at temperatures above 40-50 degrees.
Acrylic
Acrylic sealed adhesive is a popular choice for sealing joints and filling cracks in surfaces. Among the advantages of acrylic mixtures are the following:
- the possibility of staining;
- resistance to ultraviolet exposure and high humidity;
- elasticity, allowing the use of glue on surfaces with deformations;
- adhesion to porous coatings;
- easy cleaning of dried glue.
Polymer
In the manufacture of polymer compositions, boric nitride and antimony oxide are added, which improve their thermal conductivity. Polymer agents are used when gluing fabrics, cardboard, natural leather, wood, ceramic and parquet tiles. The properties of polymer adhesive liquids include:
- moisture resistance;
- resistance to mechanical stress;
- heat resistance;
- resistance to low temperatures.
Liquid Nails
Liquid nails are produced in small tubes with a volume of 200-300 milliliters. This thick paste is used as a replacement for fastening screws or nails. In the construction industry, liquid nails are used to anchor decorative stones, cement products, bricks, wood, iron and plywood. However, they are not suitable for working with wet and plastic surfaces.
Sealant
Titan sealants are popular among professional builders. Such compositions easily tolerate high humidity and frost. They also have a high degree of adhesion to most materials used in construction.
Foam
Sometimes in the construction industry, products such as foam glue are used. Their main area of application is the installation of thermal insulation made of foam plates or expanded polystyrene. The advantages of glue foam include:
- lack of unpleasant odor;
- fixing strength of thermal insulation materials;
- high level of thermal insulation;
- the possibility of using foam both inside and outside;
- protection from moss and fungi;
- ease of use.
Polyurethane
When carrying out thermal insulation work, polyurethane mixtures are often used, which will help to reliably attach thermal insulation boards. Such compositions will help not only insulate the walls of the room, but also the roofs and facades of buildings. The advantages of polyurethane glue include its cost-effectiveness. One cylinder is enough to treat ten square meters of surface.
Polymeric
Polymer adhesive solutions are actively used in the construction industry during repair work. Many builders use them for finishing ceilings and floor coverings.
They are able to reliably glue glass products, wood, paper, linoleum, parquet and plastic. Polymer products interact well with gypsum, concrete and cement coatings. Some people use them for gluing polystyrene foam.
Mastic
Glue-mastic belongs to the most heat-resistant compounds that can withstand temperatures over 100 degrees. This heat resistance allows it to be used for cladding and laying of fireplaces and stoves. The mastic reliably adheres to surfaces made of brick, cardboard, wood, paper, plywood and concrete. This adhesive has poor moisture resistance and therefore cannot be used with wet coatings.
Water resistant
For outdoor use, waterproof products are often chosen that are resistant to moisture. They are designed to work with parquet boards, ceramics, carpets, leather, wood, fabric and paper.
