Projects: materials, shapes, sizes
Gazebos with barbecue are very different. It can be large structures that are equipped not only with a barbecue, but also a whole complex for cooking, and small gazebos equipped with a small barbecue. But it all depends on the choice of the owner.
When choosing materials for a garden gazebo with a barbecue or barbecue, it is necessary to take into account the presence of an open fire. Therefore, the materials must be appropriate, that is, they must be resistant to fire and high temperatures.
Pergolas made of wood
Wooden structures are very beautiful and environmentally friendly. In addition, wood is one of the most inexpensive materials, easily amenable to any kind of processing. Everyone, even a completely inexperienced person, can install such a building equipped with a barbecue with their own hands.
This design has many advantages:
- beautiful appearance;
- fairly low price;
- the design is easy to install;
- installed on a very lightweight foundation.
The only drawback is flammability. Therefore, it is worth taking care of some safety measures of the selected stove, as well as treating the wood with special impregnations. Arbors made of wood are most often half-open or open. This is done so that the smoke can freely come out of the gazebo.
But there are also Finnish gazebos of a closed type, in the center of which there is a grill. It installs directly on the stone countertop.
Brick gazebo
If a wooden gazebo is considered temporary, then a building with a barbecue made of brick can be used at any time of the year. After all, they are not afraid of either rain or fire. Such material is non-flammable and can serve for more than a dozen years, while not requiring special attention. In addition, the brick gazebos are very warm.
But even such gazebos have drawbacks. Since brick is a rather heavy material, the foundation for such a building must be made solid, and this is a very time-consuming work. In addition, the materials used for the construction are too expensive.
Wrought iron gazebo
Such gazebos are most often bought ready-made. They are made to order. The price is directly related to the size and complexity of the construction of the model.
Forged gazebos with barbecue have many advantages:
- if you use primers and paints, then such structures will stand for many years;
- they are quite fire-resistant, so by placing a brazier and barbecue in them, you can not worry about your safety;
- such gazebos set up a romantic mood.
Separately, it is worth considering the materials that are often used for laying stoves and barbecues, as well as some facing work.
Basalt. It is a material that has a wide range of colors from light green to dark. It is the best option for laying any stoves in a garden gazebo. Basalt is often used for cladding a building. It has excellent performance. This is a rather high hardness of the material, and its low melting point, and resistance to chemical attack.
Having decided to build a garden gazebo with barbecue and barbecue, one should not forget about the correspondence of the size of the building to the size of the "culinary corner". For example, if there is a brick brazier in the building, then it must be at least three meters.
Required tools and building materials
A standard set of tools is required for excavation, concrete and roofing works: 1. Excavation:
- Measuring instruments (tape measure).
- Rake for preparation and cleaning of the site.
- Twine or nylon thread. Pegs for marking.
- Bayonet shovel.
2. Concrete work:
- A concrete mixer (or a trough for 40-60 liters) for preparing a solution.
- Buckets (for mortar, for sand and cement, for water).
- Formwork boards.
- Plumb line.
- Spirit level (building level).
- Construction trowel (trowel).
- Pickaxe is a mason's hammer.
- Joining is a tool that allows you to decorate the seam between bricks.
- Rags (it is better to remove drips of solution immediately).
3. Roofing works:
- Fastening tool (hammer, screwdriver).
- Carpentry tools (hacksaw, jigsaw).
- Work with iron ("grinder", welding).
The set of materials depends on the characteristics of the gazebo and the nature of its decoration. The main materials include:
- Concrete (sand, cement, sand sieve);
- Waterproofing material.
- Brick. Most developers prefer facing ceramic (red) bricks. In essence, the brick that is typical for other buildings on the site is suitable.
- Crushed stone.
- Armature.
- Materials for the construction of the roof (metal or board).
- Roofing materials.
- Fasteners (screws, nails).
The list is approximate. It is difficult to "cut" it, but it will have to be supplemented (based on the design features of the future structure).

Starting the construction of a gazebo with their own hands, they initially make a construction plan for drawing up an estimate. You can make a beautiful project of a brick gazebo, a wooden structure or an original and elegant wrought iron gazebo. Quite often you can find combined building options that fit perfectly into the overall design.
When working on a construction project, you should follow the instructions. A step-by-step instruction in the construction of a gazebo with a barbecue will simplify the construction of a structure with your own hands. By performing all the steps step by step, you can build a structure much faster.
They choose a place for building. Fire safety rules should not be neglected, since it is planned to make a brazier in the gazebo. Open flames can cause a fire.
So, the plan is ready and the drawings are already in hand, it's time to mark the site and lay the foundation. The outline of the base of the gazebo can be made with sand. The size of the foundation depends on how massive the structure will be. For light construction, a columnar foundation is made, for heavy brick structures, a foundation is made of slabs. A strip foundation is also used, which is suitable for any structures.
When the foundation work is completed, they begin to build the floors. Using a wooden beam, make its base. If an open gazebo is being built, a slight slope is made on the floor so that water does not linger there after the rain.
For the base, take corner beams
The roof is held on them, so special attention is paid to their installation. When the work with the walls is finished, proceed to the construction of the roof.
Most often they are of a ridge or inclined design. Cover the surface with polycarbonate or ondulin.
Work on the construction of the barbecue should begin before the start of finishing work. You should choose the option of the barbecue during the preparation of the plan and project of the gazebo. When laying the foundation, lay the foundation for the barbecue.
For the hearth, a solid foundation is made of stone or brick. It is not easy to make a brick grill, so it is better to seek advice from specialists.

For those who have little experience in construction and want to add a beautiful gazebo with their own efforts, the best option is to build a summer gazebo made of wood. There are many interesting projects on how to make a building with your own hands.
It is not necessary to pre-fill the reinforced foundation, a base made of a fastened beam will do. The floor is also made of wood. After they start decorating the walls, as well as installing a stationary barbecue (if you decide to do one).
In a wooden gazebo, it is important to equip a safe fire-fighting work area for the cook, as well as a high-quality chimney.
The hood is especially important if you plan to build an insulated version of the gazebo. The roof is made of various materials, but always with a slope so as not to push the snow.
Beautiful projects with barbecue, barbecue and oven
An open six-sided garden gazebo with a barbecue on the plot will allow its owner not only to admire the beauty of nature, but also to taste delicious barbecue cooked on the barbecue. A modest wooden table and chairs give the structure a special charm. There is always a place for friends in such a gazebo.

One of the options for a beautiful gazebo with barbecue. A brazier or grill for a barbecue is made in a gazebo or use a portable version, placing it next to the building.
When building a gazebo with barbecue, you should also take into account a place to rest, having built a terrace or a canopy. By placing sun loungers next to the building, you can feel all the delights of outdoor recreation.
By choosing any of the options and building a gazebo with barbecue on the site, you can often be with your family or friends, as well as enjoy complete loneliness, admiring the beauty of nature.

Types of stoves and barbecues for gazebos
The peculiarities of cooking in the pavilion directly depend on the type of brazier chosen. Most often, arbors are used:
brazier;
Looks like a compact oven. Cooking over it is carried out using grates and skewers.
oven (Russian);
It has large dimensions, but it allows you to cook dishes on specially equipped stoves heating from the fire or on the coals themselves.
B-B-Q;
Refers to compact ovens installed in the middle of the pavilion. Suitable for cooking meat, fish, vegetables over a fire.
tandoor;
A roaster that looks like a large container in the shape of a barrel or jug. Cooking in it takes place outside the box - under a closed lid.
fireplace.
Not used for cooking. It is a decorative and heating element.
Precautions when using a brazier in a gazebo
To create a safe area near the brazier and prevent injury during use, following these rules will help:
- Maintain a free space of 70-100 cm around the brazier for safe movement of people.
- On the floor in front of the stove, barbecue in pavilions with wooden floors, you need to lay a steel sheet. It should protrude at least 50 cm from the brazier.
- During the ignition process, one should adhere to the classic method of ignition: the use of special fluids is dangerous.
- The height of the flame should be low (especially for open braziers) and no more than 20 cm.
- Ash cleaning should be done after each use of the frypot.
- The hearth stand and barbecue accessories must be properly fixed and not interfere with the movement of people.
- For fuel, it is better to use wood or coal that does not emit sparks.
Glazing options
When designing a glazed gazebo with a stove, barbecue and barbecue, special attention should be paid to glazing, because your comfort will largely depend on this. First of all, it is worth deciding at what time of the year you plan to use the garden gazebo: in winter or in summer? So, if it is assumed that it will only be a summer gazebo, you can use cold glazing, for example:
First of all, it is worth deciding at what time of the year you plan to use the garden gazebo: in winter or in summer? So, if it is assumed that it will only be a summer gazebo, you can use cold glazing, for example:
- aluminum profile;
- frameless glazing;
- soft windows.
Cold glazing methods are distinguished by their reliability, simplicity of construction and installation, low cost, but they also involve some restrictions in the operation of the building.
However, if you plan to use the building even in frosty snowy winters, especially in regions with a harsh climate, then you cannot do without warm glazing:
- wooden frames;
- energy-saving double-glazed windows.
Warm glazing will cost more, however, the benefits from such an investment will be greater - the gazebo will be warm, cozy and comfortable even in winter, especially if there is a stove there. Let's consider in more detail each type of glazing, its pros, cons and applications.
- Aluminum profile. This is a very popular and demanded type of glazing. Although it belongs to the cold look, if a stove is installed inside the gazebo, then the conditions will be quite comfortable. In addition, the aluminum profile can be manufactured both with a single glass and with a double-glazed window. These structures look aesthetically pleasing, can be made in different shades (including wood or metal), are resistant to corrosion, and do not require additional reinforcement during installation. Suitable for installation on brick, metal and wood buildings. The profile itself is very thin and compact, therefore it does not hide the space and does not block the view. Many manufacturers provide mosquito nets for windows.
The big advantage is that aluminum profiles are suitable for installation on large panoramic windows.

Frameless structures (all-glass method). With the help of frameless glazing, you can create the feeling of no glass at all thanks to a special design. At the same time, the room will be reliably protected from sounds, dust, precipitation, and at the same time, the feeling of unity with the surrounding greenery will remain. Frameless glazing is ideal for panoramic windows, while the house itself looks modern, stylish and tasteful. Frameless designs blend harmoniously with any design style.
Using a frameless design.
Soft (flexible) windows. Another cold glazing method is to attach PVC foil to the openings with straps and zippers. They differ in their low cost, extreme simplicity of design and installation (if desired, they can even be made independently). To open a window opening, it is enough to twist soft windows into a roll and fasten with a belt. Available in different color shades. The photo below shows that with the help of flexible windows, you can arrange a panoramic opening:
The use of soft windows.
PVC constructions. Reinforced-plastic windows are associated with reliability, durability, ease of use and effective protection of the premises. The frame can be produced not only in a standard white color, but also in different shades, including those with imitation of the texture of different natural materials.
The use of double-glazed windows in the color of the building.
Wooden frames. The second warm way of glazing the gazebo is environmentally friendly and aesthetically pleasing. Although the cost of wooden structures is more expensive than aluminum ones, in terms of practicality they are slightly inferior to plastic frames. However, wooden frames still have many admirers, because the gazebo with wooden windows looks very cozy, atmospheric, and rustic.

Glazing
There are several glazing options that have both advantages and disadvantages.
- Wooden frames. Their advantage lies in their low cost and ease of installation. If desired, the owner can independently install the windows without the involvement of specialists. The disadvantage of wooden frames is that they are not airtight and do not protect well from cold and extraneous sounds.
- Double-glazed windows. The advantage of glazing with double-glazed windows made of PVC profile is that the gazebo can be used regardless of the weather. Such frames retain heat well, they are sealed. Depending on the need, they can be ordered with any functionality, for example, so that they swing open, fold back or move apart. The disadvantage is that double-glazed windows are more expensive than wooden frames. An alternative decision can be made: if the owner does not plan to come to the site in winter, then it is more rational to install single-chamber double-glazed windows.
- Aluminum profile. The advantage of this type of glazing is that it allows you to retain heat inside the premises. The air temperature of the gazebo in winter will always be higher than outside. Such glazing is made in rooms that have non-standard large openings.
- Frameless glazing. I like this option due to its attractive appearance. Being inside the gazebo, a person retains a sense of communication with the surrounding nature. Spectacular frameless designs allow the panes to slide to one side for the effect of a closed book.
- The facade design method is the most expensive, but very beautiful. It provides for a glass roof and full tightness.
Brick gazebo construction
The process of building a brick gazebo cannot be called simple. Here you will need school knowledge of geometry and drawing, the ability to conduct brickwork and, of course, physical strength. You can cope alone, but it's better to get at least one assistant.
Preparation for the start of construction and pouring the foundation
First of all, you need to prepare a brick gazebo project, and then a drawing. Next, we make an estimate for materials. We need the following:
- Sand, crushed stone and cement for pouring the foundation.
- Reinforcing bar and knitting wire for him.
- Masonry cement.
- Several pipe sections with a diameter of 50 - 70 mm, for supporting pillars.
- Brick - ordinary for the gazebo itself and fireclay for the furnace complex.
- Beam, boards, ondulin - for the rafter system, lathing and roof covering.
- Impregnation for wooden elements of the gazebo.
Using a lace, we mark the working field, mark the location of the foundation trench. It is necessary to dig the latter to a depth of 60 cm and with a distance from the wall to the machine tool of 45 - 50 cm. At the bottom of the trench, we fill in the sand with a layer of 30 cm and ram. Next comes a layer of crushed stone - 10 cm, on it - a layer of waterproofing. The canvases should protrude at least 15 cm beyond the edges of the pit.
The position of the layers of the strip foundation
We knit a reinforcing "sleeve" 30x20 cm from a steel bar, put it in a trench. At the edges of the latter, we install formwork panels 30 cm high. Now it remains only to pour the prepared cement mixture inside. We cover the foundation with a film and leave it for about one and a half, weeks before the final set of strength. The foundation for the furnace complex is made according to the same principle.
Please note: during construction, proper preparation for work is very important. The work area should be free of foreign objects, and all tools and materials that may be needed should be laid out so that everything is at hand.
Gazebo construction
We remove the formwork from the frozen foundation, and cover it with a layer of waterproofing. Now you can start laying the bricks. We work slowly, constantly checking the building level. We knead the cement in small portions, especially if the masonry moves too slowly out of habit. In the corners in which the supports will be located, we fix the pipe cuttings: it will be easier to navigate along them during construction.
DIY brick gazebo: the beginning of masonry
After the parapet is brought to the desired height, the pipe cuttings are removed, and then the laying of the supports is carried out without them. This stage is shown in the following photo.
DIY brick gazebo: the parapets are brought to the desired height
Roof construction
After bringing the supports to the desired height, we transcend to the installation of the roof. To properly fix the rafter legs, we install square trims of the timber on the supports. They are attached using ordinary anchors. Further, according to the drawing, we assemble the rafter system. The elements are fastened together with construction brackets and self-tapping screws of large diameter.
We are building a brick gazebo: the photo was taken at the stage of the construction of the rafter system
We install a crate on the rafters. For hard roofing types, you can create the sheathing from board scraps. But such coatings as ondulin require an even and continuous substrate. Sheets of moisture-resistant plywood are well suited as it. Next, we lay the roofing material. The roof of our gazebo is ready.
Brick gazebo construction: roofing completed
Kiln complex masonry
We spread the lower part, and start from the center - from the wood log. This level is completely laid out from ordinary bricks, and the entire upper one is made of fireclay, heat-resistant. The chimney can be made from ordinary red brick. Now the final touches remain: hang the doors and treat the wooden elements of our gazebo with antiseptic compounds. The floors after construction are finished with paving or ceramic tiles, electricity and water are supplied.

Construction of a gazebo
In addition to the above, you can choose a hand-made gazebo and not spend a lot of money on the purchase of a forged structure.
To begin with, you need to create a drawing and purchase materials, it is also advisable to contact a person who skillfully handles the welding machine.
Next, you need to create individual elements of the gazebo, we are talking about the elements that will give the aesthetic beauty of the gazebo. After that, you need to put everything together using a welding machine. By the way, creating a gazebo with an arch would be a great idea.
In the end, after the structure has been assembled and installed, it is advisable to treat the structure with special paint mixtures so that the metal does not corrode so quickly.
How to choose the right brick?
Before proceeding with the creation of a structure, it is necessary to decide on the type of material used.
To do this, you need to remember:
- White sand-lime brick will provide a neat masonry. Due to this, it, along with facing, is often used for finishing work.
- The foundation and walls of the future structure should be built of red brick. It is moisture resistant and has a longer lifespan than white.
- The clinker type of brick does not require finishing.For outdoor masonry, it is recommended to use it - it will give the gazebo attractiveness without any decoration. Before proceeding with the creation of a structure, it is necessary to decide on the type of material used. To do this, you need to remember:
Having decided on the main material, you should prepare the site, tools and proceed to the construction of the structure.
Constructions
There are several types of garden gazebos, including brick ones:
- Open type. There are no doors, walls or windows in such buildings. The structure consists of racks and a roof resting on them. You can install a barbecue or barbecue under it.
- Semi-open type. Such a gazebo can have one wall or glazing.
- Closed type. In fact, the structure is presented in the form of a small brick house. It can be heated and has a ventilation system. Double glazing and a secure door can be installed here. With stove or electric heating in such a room, you can take off your outerwear even in severe frost and comfortably spend time at the table in a friendly company.
According to the construction method, such garden structures can be divided into two types:
- The attached ones are a continuation of the main structure on the site. Due to the fact that such a structure has one wall - this is the wall of the house, you can save on construction. In this case, the consumption of building materials is reduced. If the place for the extension is chosen correctly, precipitation will never fall into it and the wind will blow out. Such a gazebo should be built in the same style as the neighboring house.
- A freestanding brick gazebo can also be closed or open. It requires a solid foundation.
The structure can be used in different ways. This can be a place for gathering guests, and a well-equipped summer (and sometimes winter) kitchen. In closed gazebos with stoves, with windows, it is especially cozy in bad weather and late in the evening.
Opened with a barbecue or barbecue allow you to gather for barbecue on a warm summer day. Glazed garden houses-gazebos are well warmed up by the sun, which makes it possible to operate such structures until late autumn, even if no stoves are installed in them.
The shapes of brick arbors are diverse. The easiest way is to build a square or rectangular structure.
It will be more difficult with a round structure, but such a garden house will definitely attract the attention of anyone who appears in the garden.
Hex- or octagonal designs look just as elegant. Although it must be understood that, for example, octagonal gazebos, like any "polygons", due to the large number of corners, make the interior space larger, but their useful area decreases
It's okay if the most important thing is to accommodate as many guests as possible.
There are also combined options that combine different geometric shapes, which makes it possible to simplify the zoning of the internal space.
All the pros and cons
Brick gazebos are strong and durable, they always look solid and respectable, and besides, such structures are the most reliable in terms of fire safety. Therefore, if you plan to arrange a brazier, then you will not find a better material for construction than brick.
Let's make a reservation right away that brick is a heavy material, buildings made of it belong to stationary, solid structures. Therefore, such a structure requires careful preparation, including accurate calculations, a solid, competent poured foundation, and significant financial costs.
But all the costs are more than covered during the operation of the brick gazebo:
- it does not need additional processing with refractory compounds and antiseptics, does not rot, does not absorb moisture like buildings made of wood;
- this material is not afraid of rodents and microorganisms;
- the brick does not rust, and, therefore, does not require anti-corrosion protection;
- the modern market offers a huge selection of decorative bricks with different textures, which allows you to immediately perform the facing of the building, without any additional finishing work;
- whether it is a classic shape, as well as various modified configurations (rounded, curly, beveled), a large color palette - all this makes brick an almost universal material, which opens up huge prospects in the design of a building;
- brick goes well with metal, wood, composites, stone, and this allows you to implement any stylistic direction, in addition, a different masonry system, and convenient brick sizes allow you to lay out beautiful buildings of almost any shape: rectangular, round, multifaceted, curved.
Brick gazebo decorated with wooden lattice
Tip: Usually, the walls of the gazebo for a summer residence are laid out half a brick thick, while a fairly strong structure is obtained, but at the same time, such masonry significantly saves the construction budget.
Views
All brick gazebo projects can be divided into 3 categories. Light summer open buildings, as a rule, combine several materials in them at once, for example, brick supports, on which metal or wooden vertical posts are fixed, and all this is brought under a polycarbonate roof. Such suburban buildings do not require large financial investments, they look elegant, and are practically invisible on the site.
Semi-closed brick gazebos look more massive, as a rule, one brick wall is solid, a brazier with a working area is installed near it, in the corners of the remaining walls, pillars of metal or logs are arranged, and the openings are closed with a forged parapet, or decorative wooden lattices.
Closed brick gazebos, photo of a multifaceted design
But more and more are becoming popular covered gazebos made of bricks, glazed, without exaggeration, these are real houses in which you can relax all year round, regardless of weather conditions. And if you install a stove inside, conduct heating and insulate the building, then you will already get a full-fledged living space in which you can create a comfortable temperature even in severe frost.
Important: Fire safety techniques require that there be at least 3 m of free area in front of the open hearth, and if there are interior items made of wood and other combustible materials inside, then they must be treated with a refractory solution.
Glazing options
To protect yourself from insects, wind and dust, while leaving an overview of the site, it is necessary to glaze the building. Windows allow you to use the gazebo at any time of the year, avoiding the impact of unacceptable weather conditions.
Before erecting a building, it is necessary, first of all, to determine the seasons of its operation: glazing for different conditions requires the use of other materials. For example, warm glass is more suitable for winter due to its ability to better maintain indoor temperature than other options.
Did you know? Due to the actions of the offender, the famous painting by Repin "Ivan the Terrible" was damaged by fragments of protective glass. After this incident, all glazing in the gallery was replaced with shock-resistant triplex.
Cold
Glazing of this type involves the operation of the gazebo in warm seasons. This option is ideal for the summer as it does not require significant investment. When installing cold glazing, give preference to such frame material as aluminum. This metal requires virtually no maintenance, and also does not undergo oxidation.
The strength of the aluminum frame will allow the glazing to last for many years, protecting the gazebo in different weather conditions. Operation of a building with such windows can be used from mid-spring to late autumn, when the air temperature exceeds + 10 ° C.
Warm
This type of gazebo glazing suggests the possibility of using the building even in winter. The glass unit keeps the high temperature inside the room, which will make you feel comfortable even when it is cold outside.
Check out the features of the terraced landscape.
Conditionally warm glazing can be divided into two subspecies:
- simple;
- practical.
The first involves the use of frames made of wood materials. It has an advantage in the cost of purchasing or manufacturing a structure, and also opens up the possibility of self-assembly. The main disadvantage is the demand for maintenance: the frames will require resin treatment and sealing.
A practical option is to install plastic windows. Such double-glazed windows serve for a long time, protecting the room from dust, rain and frost. Plastic frames can be purchased in any suitable color, which will give the gazebo a unique style. A significant disadvantage of such glazing is the fragility of materials if they are exposed to extremely low temperatures.
Triplex
A distinctive feature of such a double-glazed window is its multilayer structure. Two or more glasses are interconnected by a polymer film, which not only seals the structure and makes it more reliable, but also prevents fragments from flying apart if the structure is broken. Such glazing is used in automobiles. When hitting such glass, a characteristic cobweb-like network of cracks appears.

For a gazebo with barbecue, glazing it in this way is the most acceptable option, due to the resistance of the material to high temperatures and humidity. Triplex is often used in sliding frames, which allows you to more efficiently ventilate the room during barbecue.
