Alpine Arabis

Alpine Arabis is a curb perennial plant that often grows in its natural environment in Eastern Siberia, on rocky slopes, on rocks and hills. It has thin numerous roots, branching stems, large flowers that smell nice. The plant is not tall, no more than 30 - 35 centimeters in length, but among other representatives of this species it is the most sprawling and largest, blooms from May to the end of June. The plant attracts numerous bees, as it acts as an excellent honey plant.

Alpine Arabis is propagated either by dividing bushes or by seeds or cuttings.

Better to do it in the spring:

• when dividing, creeping rooted shoots are separated;
• cuttings begin to cut from the end of May, they are planted either directly in the ground or in their nursery, shading;
• the seeds are sown either in early spring or already before winter, in the second year the seedlings will bloom.

For Alpine Arabis, not damp (excess moisture is destructive for it), opening and sunny places (withstands light partial shade) are suitable. In a sunny place, Arabis blooms more magnificently, but in partial shade the plant grows well. It is necessary to plant bushes of a plant with thirty centimeter intervals. The plant does not tolerate when other plants press on it, after flowering it requires pruning so that there is no self-seeding and so that the plant does not stretch too much, such pruning will help good flowering next year.

After flowering, Alpine Arabis looks very decorative, like a green carpet with white veins. She does not require shelter for the winter, it is necessary to regularly mulch, weed, trim, periodically water, if dry, and fertilize with humus in the spring.

Most often, alpine arabis is used to decorate rocky areas, for individual decorative spots on the lawn, for a border and for decorating tree-trunk circles.
