Bird cherry
The main feature of bird cherry, from other stone fruit plants, is its great frost resistance. If you decide to lay a garden, and are new to this business, then the common bird cherry is what you need.
This type of plant is not very demanding. It grows on almost any soil, except for swampy soil. If you purchased seedlings and decided to plant them, you need to know some features.
Bird cherry is a tall plant with a dense crown. Therefore, in due time it will give a decent shadow. Choose a place where shade will not bother you. Planting seedlings must be done at least 4 meters later.
Disembarkation is best done in autumn. The landing pit should be 0.5 meters each from all sections. All leaves must be removed after planting.
Further care for this plant is similar to any stone fruit. Pruning should be done in early spring. In the first year of pruning, only 3 branches should be left, which are evenly spaced at an angle of 50 degrees. The next year, the leader and these three branches are cut by 50 cm (depending on the growth), and 3 more branches are also formed. In the following year, the procedure is repeated.
As a result, you have a nice crown of the tree. In addition to pruning, it is necessary to water this plant and do not deep digging and weeding. Bird cherry can be fed with various kinds of fertilizers; both mineral and organic fertilizers are suitable for it.
Bird cherry gives fruit from June to August, depending on the variety and location of the plant. Most often, compotes are cooked from the fruit, which are similar in taste and compotes from cherries. Good luck with your cultivation and a good harvest.
