Platovsky grapes - a noteworthy technical variety

Platovsky grapes are also called Early Dawn - for its very early ripening period. This variety belongs to the technical, but one should not make hasty conclusions, that if it is technical, then it is suitable only for processing. In fact, Platovsky has a number of advantages and benefits:

  • it is resistant to many diseases, unpretentious, takes root well;
  • withstands frost up to 30 degrees;
  • easy enough to care for;
  • bears fruit well even with short pruning;
  • ripe berries can remain on the bush for a long time and accumulate sugar without crumbling;
  • bears fruit quite well even in adverse weather conditions;
  • berries are suitable for drying and for making wines and juices;
  • multiplies easily;
  • Platovsky grape bushes grow very quickly in the early years.

The berries of this variety are of medium size - up to 2 grams, light, and in the sun - with a pink color. The taste is quite tender, sweet, with a thin but strong skin. The bunches are cylindro-conical, weighing up to 200 grams.

What is the difference between the technical grade Platovsky and the table varieties?

The appearance of the bunches allows you to put the grapes on the festive table, although the size of the berries and bunches is not very large, but its taste is in no way inferior to the grapes of table varieties. The only thing is that if you plant grapes for making a large amount of wine, then you will have to plant more Platovsky grape bushes than table grapes (due to the small size of berries and bunches). But again, a controversial issue, because Platovsky does not require much leaving.

So this variety is worthy of attention.
