you can pre-glue the surface on both sides of the seam with masking tape;
for a fillet weld, it is better to wet the sides with soapy water;
to smooth out the applied sealant if necessary and the mixture does not stick to your hands, you can also wet it with soapy water; this way you can remove material smudges.

And I advise you. The main problem when extruding from cartridges is that the piston diameter in the gun is smaller than necessary. The pancake of the piston gets crookedly into the plastic "back" of the cartridge and everything is warped. You can even jam the backdrop and the sealant can leak from the back. Having screwed an additional pancake onto the stem (the diameter is needed 41-42 mm - for plastic cartridges, I do not use metal (American) cartridges), there will be no such problem.
