White water-based paint is available in several varieties and differs in the type of polymers that are used in the composition.
There are several types of this finishing material:
Acrylic
Here acrylic resins act as a basis. Also, silicones are often included in the composition, which gives the substance water resistance and makes it possible to use it in rooms where fumes occur, for example, in the kitchen. This coating can withstand up to 5000 wash cycles, it well masks irregularities and cracks up to 1 mm. White acrylic resin based water-based paint works well on most surfaces, including glass, concrete or wood.
Silicate
The basis of such compositions is liquid glass. They have a significant shelf life of the finished substance, which is more than 20 years. Also, this paint is distinguished by good permeability and resistance to negative factors, for example, temperature changes. But high humidity can damage the coating.
Silicone
This is one of the most expensive formulations, but this is justified by a number of properties. This paint is capable of correcting cracks up to 2 mm, the coating perfectly passes steam through itself. It is suitable for use in rooms with high humidity. Mold and mildew do not grow on the surface of the coating.
Polyvinyl acetate
These compositions are obtained by mixing pigments with a PVA base. This coating is not afraid of pollution. It is not afraid of grease and oils, it covers brick and concrete well, it is resistant to fading, and creates a durable layer.
How to choose?
The choice of white water-based paint depends on several factors:
- Appointment of the premises. If you need to cover the ceiling in the bedroom or living room, then you can purchase a regular acrylic compound. If you need to paint the ceiling in the kitchen, then at least you need to choose a composition with silicones. A polyvinyl acetate compound is suitable for finishing the garage. Such a coating can be easily washed from oils, and the walls will always look good.
- Price. The cost of water-based paint is quite varied. You can buy quite high-quality products worth up to 1000 rubles or over 3000 rubles for a volume of 10 liters.
- It can create two types of coatings on the surface: matte and glossy. Depending on the needs and desires of the buyer, you need to choose the appropriate composition.
- Before buying, you need to calculate the amount of finishing material that you need. Many manufacturers offer to purchase white water-based paint with a volume of 2 to 30 kg, which allows you to choose the right container, thereby saving money.
