Where do blueberries grow best, or what conditions does a plant need?
Where do blueberries grow? This question is asked by all gardeners who have purchased the bushes of this plant and do not know where to place them on the site and how to subsequently care for them. Let's try to figure out how to grow this rather unpretentious berry.
Speaking about where blueberries grow, it is worth noting that the plant is best planted in the shade or partial shade (when planted in a sunny area, it will need regular and very abundant moisture). As for the soil, well-moisturized, light and acidic (the pH level should be in the range of 4-5) is best suited for blueberries. To organize ideal growing conditions for her, you can slightly fertilize the soil by adding a mixture of peat, sawdust, sand, fallen leaves and needles, as well as bark, taken in arbitrary proportions. To slightly acidify the earth, you should add a small amount of sulfur to it.
This plant is prone to forming berries without cross-pollination. However, in order to increase yields, several varieties of this crop can be planted on the site, which should have the same flowering period. Immediately before planting, you should slightly increase the level of acidity of the soil by watering it with water acidified with any food acid (no more than a tablespoon per bucket), for example, oxalic or lemon. When planting, a certain distance between individual plants must be observed: it should not be less than a meter, while at least two meters should be left between the rows.
