When you look at the varieties of peonies in the photo, there is a desire to plant all possible varieties of them in your garden. After all, each of them has its own characteristics, is beautiful in its own way.

It is best to buy peonies for planting. The plant's bushes need to be regularly divided to rejuvenate and maintain health.

Therefore, closer to autumn, from mid-August, peony bushes are subjected to division. As a rule, cuttings of varietal and common peonies are sold from 8-10-year-old mother plants.

Divide a peony bush on your own is a rather difficult task, since the roots of a peony grow very strongly into the ground. For dividing, it is often necessary to use a crowbar to swing a huge bush that has grown well into the ground.

It is impossible to divide the bushes dug out at once, it is better to let them lie in the air for about three hours. This exercise makes the stems less fragile due to the fact that they wilt slightly.

After that, all stems are cut to a height of 10-11 cm. When transplanting a bush, do not hold it by the stems! They are very fragile in peonies, they are easy to break off, thereby ruining the growth buds at the base of the stems.

To begin with, the bush can be cut into a couple of large parts with a sharp shovel, and then divided into smaller parts with a sharp knife.

Suitable for planting are tubers with roots and a stem with three or more growth buds.
