Rumelian pine
Among the evergreen trees of the Pine family, the Rumelian pine, also called the Macedonian pine, stands out.
This tree is shaped like a narrow pyramid of medium height. As a rule, it grows in mountainous areas in the south and southeast of Europe in countries such as Serbia, Greece, Albania, Macedonia, Montenegro and Bulgaria.
Rumelian pine is a very beautiful tree, therefore in many countries it is specially cultivated for planting in park areas.
Despite the fact that the tree is frost-resistant, in severe frosts, its root system, as well as the top, can still freeze.
A mature tree can reach 15-20 meters in height with a width of about 5 meters. Usually the crown is dense green with a blue or gray tint.
When growing Rumelian pine, it should be borne in mind that the tree is very fond of light, however, it can successfully develop in a semi-shaded place. A tree can grow approximately 30 centimeters high and 15 centimeters wide in a year. Pine grows best in fertile soil with good drainage.
A special advantage of the Rumelian beauty is its needles. The length of each needle can be from 8 to 12 centimeters. The needles are distinguished by a beautiful green color, hardness and sharpness.
Like any evergreen tree, the Rumelian pine bears fruit with cylindrical light brown cones. Often, cones grow in 3-4 pieces, but there are also single specimens.
With proper cultivation and care, this tree will delight with its beauty and splendor of needles for many years.
