Growing birch
Quite a few songs and poems have been composed about the beauty of the Russian white-trunk birch. not to mention the benefits of this tree - medicinal properties, excellent decorative properties of wood, tar, juice, etc. Growing birch, it would seem, is not particularly difficult. it is not for nothing that it is called the pioneer tree of cities.
Reproduction of birch in nature is carried out quickly enough, capturing more and more areas. After all, the seeds of this tree are very light, they are carried by birds and the wind, and besides, there are a lot of them. It would seem that all this contributes to the rapid reproduction of birch growth. But in order for a birch seed to germinate and develop a full-fledged, strong, healthy plant from it, several conditions must be met.
Under artificial conditions, birch seeds are best treated with cold. for this, they must be placed in a special dish, you can take an ordinary glass jar, slightly moisten them, so that the water does not wet the seeds too much. Put these dishes in the cold - from 0 to -2 degrees for a period of 3 to 5 weeks.
Birch seeds are sown in rows, between which it is necessary to maintain a distance of 15-20 centimeters. Since birch seeds are very small and have a small percentage of germination, they must be sown in a fairly dense layer. They do not need to be deepened into the soil, if only lightly sprinkled with earth, and even better it will be to cover the crops with a film or covering material.
Watering birch seeds planted on seedlings can only be done from a spray bottle, because if you use a watering can, the soil and seeds from it will be washed out with water.
In the first summer, birch seedlings can reach a height of 20-30 centimeters, but only next year they are taken out into the street.
Good luck!
