Forget-me-nots in the photo do not convey their real beauty
Forget-me-nots in photos and paintings are touching, delicate flowers that make us admire their unpretentious beauty.
The genus of forget-me-nots has about fifty species, they love humid places in Asia, Europe, South Africa, America, New Zealand and Australia. The flower can be found in many gardens in France, England, Sweden and Germany; forget-me-not is also very popular in our latitudes. Forget-me-nots can be perennial, annual and biennial, stems can reach from ten to forty centimeters in height. Flowers, collected in inflorescences, are most often blue with a small yellow eye, but sometimes white and pink flowers are found.
Forget-me-not begins to bloom in May, and somewhere in the middle of June it stops its color, then a small fruit appears, in which the seeds of the plant are collected, which you can sow yourself.
It is better to plant forget-me-not in a semi-shady place, where the soil is light and moist, but not waterlogged. It is advisable to feed the forget-me-nots with various mineral and organic dressings, you can use ammonium nitrate, mullein, peat compost, superphosphate.
Before sowing seeds, they should be soaked in salt water so that the bad seeds will rise and can be removed, and the remaining ones at the bottom should be dried and sown in boxes. Seedlings usually appear after five days, with two leaves you need to dive, and by the end of April forget-me-nots are planted in a permanent place.
The plants will bloom in a year, and you will make sure that the forget-me-nots in the photo sometimes do not convey all their delicate beauty, which you will see in your garden, the soil should be regularly loosened and pests - slugs, should be removed.
Forget-me-not is not only beautiful, but also useful, it is used in folk medicine for expectoration, as a means that will help stop blood, reduce sweating and inflammation, cope with bronchitis, tuberculosis, cough and hemoptysis.
It always seemed to me that forget-me-not is difficult to grow. Well, I'll try it next year. But I will most likely buy an already flowering plant and transplant it into soil.
Last year I planted the whole flower garden only with forget-me-nots, all colors of the rainbow !!!! So the neighbors came to me as if on an excursion. And most importantly. that they do not require constant care. Weed, processed - and forgot.
And once upon a time we brought some forget-me-nots from the forest to our garden. They have taken root surprisingly well, have grown over the years, and now they delight us every spring with their beauty and no less delightful aroma.
