Large-flowered purslane

Large-flowered purslane is a widespread and well-known species in the gardening family of the purslane family. It is a herbaceous annual plant that reaches a height of only 10-15 centimeters. The stems of the purslane are juicy, green with a reddish tinge, they spread along the ground, completely covering it. The purslane plant is also called rugs. The leaves are juicy, small, greenish-gray in color, alternate.

Flowers have a diameter of 3-4 centimeters, they can be simple, double or semi-double with orange, cream, white, yellow, red or pink corolla. Flowers are located at the ends of the stem. The flower opens only in sunny weather. By evening, the flower fades. Since there are many flowers on the plant, flowering seems to be continuous. Flowering begins in June and ends before frost. Large-flowered purslane has silvery, shiny seeds that resemble droplets of metal.

Purslane is thermophilic and loves the sun very much. It is drought tolerant. Large-flowered purslane grows well on the balcony, on the sunny part of the house in small pots. Blooming purslane is also grown in the room, but you need to choose a windowsill on a well-lit window.

Purslane is grown in seedlings. Purslane seedlings need good lighting. Watering is carried out in a pan, and when the seedlings grow, it is possible in the usual way. Purslane is transplanted into open ground after frost. After transplanting, the plant is watered for several days.
