Cineraria reproduction, all the secrets and features
Several years ago, I saw a friend on the site with a very interesting framing of all her flower beds - a kind of border of plants with small silvery cut leaves. As it turned out, this plant was called Seaside Cineraria. Of course, I also wanted such beauty for myself.
As it turned out, this cineraria propagates by cuttings, but of course you can plant it with seeds. Cuttings should be no more than 10 cm in height, and this must be done in the summer. Cineraria took root on my site just fine, creating a unique design for my flower garden. It is noteworthy that I use cineraria not only as a border, but also for framing some other flowers, it emphasizes their beauty.
What I especially like is that it is unpretentious, adapts to any conditions, but where more sun gets in, the leaves look more beautiful (more silver). I did not make any special soil for her, but sometimes I feed it with a mullein diluted with water. For the winter, I do not dig it out, but cover it well with leaves or spruce branches (which is available). Although one year, when there were severe frosts, some of the flowers froze and died. In the spring, I remove dried and frozen leaves, that's all.
Somewhere from mid-June, cineraria begins to bloom, but I cut these flowers, they are too inconspicuous, they look more like a weed. In the seaside cineraria, I only like foliage. And the bloody cineraria has beautiful flowers. I bought her seeds later, accidentally saw and tasted them.
Bloody cineraria reproduces only by seeds, I sowed seedlings and planted them in the ground at the end of May. The flowers of this cineraria are very bright, double, I have it red and blue. Blooms from mid-June to late autumn.
