Clematis on the balcony, loggia, window

Clematis is a liana that is able to gain a foothold on a support of any, even the most bizarre, shape. Its large beautiful flowers, which can be admired all summer long, until late autumn. They are ideal for vertical landscaping.

To grow clematis on a balcony, loggia, window, prepare a box for the earth with a depth of about 60 cm and be sure to install a support. Usually it is a net with cells of at least 20 cm or stretched line with the same interval. At the beginning of summer, the vine grows very quickly and by the end of it it usually braids the support completely.

In the middle lane, clematis is best planted in early spring, in the southern regions - in the fall. The plant is warm and light-requiring and blooms more profusely in the southern, southeastern or southwestern strip. They should be watered rarely, but very abundantly, until the box is moistened to its full depth. A few hours after watering or rain, the soil should be loosened to prevent crusting. In early spring, clematis are fed with a full mineral fertilizer, during the budding period - with nitroamofos, before sheltering for the winter - with superphosphate and potassium fertilizer.

For the winter, the vines are pruned, leaving only a couple of buds. The box is removed, wrapped in a blanket and polyethylene and put into the basement or underground. In the southern regions, it can be left in a glazed loggia, but placed on an elevation in order to avoid freezing of the ground.

Clematis on the balcony and loggia can be propagated by dividing the bush, cuttings and layering. It is better not to use the seed method, as a result, vines that are completely different from mother plants can grow.
