Pelargonium royal is not called so for nothing

Such a beautiful luxurious flower like royal pelargonium is able to fall in love with oneself at first sight. This is not surprising, because many of them are endowed with large flowers (2.5-6 cm in diameter), which are inherent in a rich color palette, ranging from white as snow to purple-black. Their petals can be corrugated or wavy, often with dark spots, akin to a royal seal. This pelargonium is characterized by the presence of dense inflorescences, consisting of several flowers collected together. It has large, jagged leaves with a rough surface.

Compared to other existing species of pelargonium, the royal is more capricious in care. Not only does it not bloom in the first year after rooting, it also has a short flowering period: no more than a few months a year. However, in order for this period to take place, it must be properly maintained in the winter. And the correct content involves maintaining a low temperature (in the range of 7 to 15 degrees) and providing additional backlighting.

Let's dwell on some of its other features.
  • She is known for her light-loving nature. It is best to place it in well-ventilated, light places, excluding direct sunlight, which can burn it.
  • High humidity can provoke the appearance of damage on the leaves of this plant. In summer, the temperature at the place of his stay should not exceed 18-20 degrees. It does not require spraying.
  • The soil should be neither too wet nor too dry. In the spring, when pelargonium begins to grow actively, it should be watered abundantly in order to avoid yellowing of the leaves under the influence of the sun, and in winter, watering is significantly reduced. Moreover, watering is best done through the pallet.
  • She is not characterized by exactingness to the soil, but the presence of drainage and periodic loosening of the upper earthen layer is indispensable.
  • The flower needs an annual transplant, preferably in May. Before this, a partial renewal of the land and the shortening of long shoots are shown.
  • It blooms most abundantly in a small, cramped pot, and maintaining its neat appearance requires removing dried flowers.
Despite all its whims, this pelargonium conquers the hearts of many, many flower growers once and for all!

In general, I would say that all varieties of geraniums are quite capricious plants. At least, I have formed such an opinion about them.
