Sowing asters for seedlings

Asters are beautiful autumn flowers that illuminate an already slightly faded landscape with bright spots. They are very popular with our gardeners as they help decorate orphaned flower beds and gardens without requiring too much attention. These modest but attractive plants reproduce only by seeds. In the conditions of the middle lane, they can be sown in open ground, as soon as the danger of frost return has passed. In this case, asters will bloom quite late, not earlier than September. In order to get an earlier flowering and have time to collect seeds, asters are usually sown for seedlings.

They are sown from about the end of February to mid-March. The exact timing depends on the climatic conditions of your region, as well as on the period in which you want to get flowering plantings. Planting depth - about a centimeter. The optimum temperature for successful germination is 20-22 degrees Celsius. After the seedlings germinate, it is better to lower the temperature a little. Make sure that the soil does not dry out, otherwise the seeds will have little chance of germinating.

After the seedlings have two true leaves, they are dived. Before planting in open ground, small asters can be fed a little with mineral fertilizers. Two times will be enough. And closer to the settlement for permanent residence, young plants should be tempered a little - they should be taken out for a short time to fresh air (for example, a balcony). This will help the asters quickly adapt to external conditions.

Prepare the land for asters in advance or try to sow them in open ground "before winter".
