Genetically modified blue roses in the photo

We are used to the fact that the roses in the photo have traditional floral shades: they are painted in white, yellow, red and pink colors, as well as their numerous shades. However, recently this stereotype was broken - blue or blue roses were born, and they were not colored after the formation of the bud, but became such as a result of certain gene manipulations.

Take a look at these blue roses in the photo. They are nothing more than the result of many years of painstaking human work. This variety under the symbolic name "Applause" was bred as a result of fourteen years of efforts by Japanese scientists. To obtain such an unusual color (by the way, in nature it never forms in roses), breeders had to cross the genes of the roses and pansies themselves, or rather, their gene responsible for blue shades.

However, blue roses are not the only unusual variety of this flower. So, black roses (here it is worth noting that we are talking specifically about a coal-black color, and not about purple and burgundy, which can be found among the natural colors of this flower) can be obtained by simply putting them in water with ink. An equally simple trick can be done to produce flowers that have a clear distinction between the shades of the petals. To do this, you will need to cut the stem at the end, as if splitting it into several parts, and put each of them in a separate narrow container with dye-colored water. However, it should be noted that in this case, you should not cut the stem into more than four parts.
