How to plant raspberries? Gardener's Guide

How to plant raspberries? This question is certainly asked by all gardeners who want to feast on this incredibly tasty and healthy berry in the summer and early autumn. In fact, this process is much simpler than it might seem at first glance. So, let's figure out how to plant raspberries.

First of all, the gardener should pay attention to the choice of the site. This shrub feels great on flat areas or in the lower parts of small elevations (and only on their northern and northwestern slopes). Unsuitable for this plant are damp and swampy areas, closed hollows, as well as places that from time to time are subject to significant waterlogging. As for the soil, there are no special requirements, however, if possible, it is still better to give preference to leached loamy chernozems with a significant content of humus.

Now let's take a closer look at the planting process itself. The first step is to dig holes. They must be large enough to accommodate the roots of the seedlings. Also, fertilizer must be added to the hole, prepared in the proportion of thirty grams of superphosphate and twenty grams of potassium salt per five kilograms of humus. It is necessary to plant shrubs at a moderate depth (for light sandy loam soils, even a slight deepening is suitable), otherwise shoots may not appear on them. The next, final stage is watering the plant and mulching the hole. Hilling should not be neglected either: this will help protect young shoots from winter frosts.

Dreaming of my raspberries in my backyard. Questions arose: planting should be carried out in autumn or winter, and should fertilizers and top dressing be applied to the soil during the growth process, if so, which ones?

And I know that raspberries grow very quickly, but because, so that it does not fill the entire area, fences made of plastic or tin sheets are dug into the ground around the plantings of raspberries to a sufficient depth.
