The brilliant cotoneaster is one of the most worthy representatives of the genus. Its name corresponds to the appearance of the leaves. Elliptical, pointed at the end, they really have a glossy sheen, as if varnished. In autumn, they turn reddish purple.
The inflorescences of the cotoneaster are inconspicuous, the fruits are considered more decorative. Black or bright red, they adorn bush branches for a long time, feeding small birds. Without pruning, the bush grows up to 2 meters in height and sometimes reaches 3 meters in width.
