How is a remontant strawberry different from a regular one?

Everyone knows that strawberries and strawberries are very similar. That is why the agricultural technology of growing these berries is very similar. But, nevertheless, one should take into account some of the features that a remontant Strawberry, when growing and caring for her. The garden strawberry (strawberry) is divided into the one that bears fruit only once a year, and the remontant one, which bears fruit several times per season. In ordinary strawberries, buds form in late summer - early autumn. Consequently, only during a short daylight period can a given plant have fruit buds, which will yield the next year. But in remontant varieties, fruit buds are formed during neutral daylight hours or during long daylight hours. Those who love to grow this berry in their garden often come across the terms NSD and DSD, applied to strawberry varieties. These are the abbreviations from neutral daylight hours and long daylight hours. The DSD remontant strawberry variety brings two harvests per season. The first collection can be done in July, and the second in late August - early September. It is the second harvest that is considered to be stronger - depending on the age of the plants, it brings 60-90% of all berries grown per season.

Repaired strawberries are often called large-fruited. And this is no coincidence, since the mass of its berries is 20-75 grams (one piece). There were also specimens weighing 100 grams. Alas, because of such a load, the bushes often die, giving up their harvest.

Among the varieties of remontant strawberries and remontant strawberries, there are those that form a mustache, as well as beardless ones. Mustacheless varieties significantly save planting space and time for the gardener (there is no need to constantly trim the mustache). But there is also a drawback - reduced heat resistance and drought resistance.

This variety can be called unique due to its high resistance to temperature extremes, continuous fruiting (four peaks of fruiting are noted - late May, July, late August and closer to mid-September), large berries, weighing 40-60g. "Albion" is very resistant to drought and is practically not susceptible to various diseases. It gives dark red berries of an oblong-rounded shape.

Albion is growing here and there used to be Queen Elizabeth, Vima Rina and Selva. But the varieties are very capricious and rodents love them very much. Therefore, it was replaced with "Miracle of the World". Albion bears fruit well, although the second collection is not as large as the first, but the Miracle of the World blooms very well and the bushes are so large. Look at the berries. In general, the varieties listed by the author are worthy: Albion, Vima Rina and Selva.

Evi2 grew up on our site. Great variety! The berry is soft, juicy and tasty. Quite a lot of fertility, from a garden of 10 squares you can collect 50-60 kg. It tolerates a lack of moisture well and is generally resistant to adverse conditions.

We have such a strawberry on the site. Yes, she is horgosha, she will give birth twice a year. But compared to the usual one, this one is kind of plastic. It doesn't even smell so aromatic, but has a faint strawberry scent. Therefore, ordinary strawberries are tastier for me.
