Strawberry variety Crown and its cultivation
It is not so easy to grow strawberries outdoors, because you have to deal with many unfavorable factors. And yet, knowing all the main principles regarding the cultivation of strawberries, you can achieve excellent results.
- Landing site
The most suitable site for growing strawberries will be the one where cereals and legumes previously grew, since such plants are believed to be able to disinfect the soil and loosen it. But virgin soil is also perfect, the main thing is to dig it up thoroughly. Otherwise, any other piece of land that has had a rest of at least one year will do.
In addition, it is important to consider that the strawberry area should be sufficiently open and illuminated by the sun, but at the same time well protected from the wind. In winter, the open space will be protected by a layer of snow, which plays an important role in protecting the strawberry bushes. Otherwise, next year the berries will be too small.
- Fertilizing the earth
An important condition for good growth and ripening of strawberries is fertilization with humus. Also important is the mineral feed in the form of phosphorus, nitrogen and potash fertilizers, applied in the autumn or spring. Another effective method is the introduction of wood ash before digging the earth.
- Landing
Plant seedlings necessary in early spring, late summer or at the very beginning of autumn. Before planting strawberry seedlings, make sure that the root system of each bush is well developed. The beds should be one meter wide, and the holes between themselves should have a distance of half a meter, which will help the seedlings not to thicken. The final stage is abundant watering after the bushes have been planted in the holes.
Strawberry Care Corona
In the future, the strawberry Crown will need a systematic leaving... For example, removing weeds will be a permanent procedure. But with the help of mulching, you can make this work easier. Strawberries can be protected using sawdust, pine needles, straw or cardboard.
As for watering the strawberries, it should be regular, but not too abundant. It is also necessary to further enrich the land with mineral nitrogen fertilizers.
An important part of strawberry care is pest control. We are especially happy to enjoy delicious poultry berries. Therefore, it would be nice to build a scarecrow that will rustle and wave something. As for the rest of the pests, you can spray the plants with special solutions or use a natural process called entomophagy, that is, eating insects. For this, beneficial insects are used that destroy pests.
After harvesting at the end of July, the excess antennae must be cut off, and the strawberry bushes must be covered with straw. This will protect the plant and enjoy another abundant harvest.
