Own raspberry seedlings takes effort and patience
Raspberries are one of the most demanded, favorite and popular berries in our latitudes. It owes this not only to its wonderful taste, but also to the fact that it is a storehouse of useful substances that have a beneficial effect on the human body.
Not only berries are used, which are eaten fresh and make delicious jam, but also leaves, they are brewed, and medicinal decoctions and infusions are made from them.
Raspberry is a semi-shrub whose stems live for two years and perennial roots.
A seedling (seedling) of raspberries almost always takes root, you need to do something extremely wrong so that the raspberries do not take root. But nevertheless, it is better to do everything scientifically correctly in order to get a rich harvest of fragrant and delicate berries.
It is imperative to "fill" the soil, that is, add humus, compost, peat to it, and shed it well. It is advisable to mulch each raspberry seedling with rotted mulch.
Raspberries should be planted in a sunny place, openwork shade is allowed, the soil should be moistened regularly.
Planting more often annual offspring growing on the roots of the main plant. It is better to prepare such seedlings in the fall if you want to enlarge your raspberry tree, or buy a ready-made seedling also in the fall for planting.
A good seedling is:
- In which the thickness of the trunk at the root collar is about ten mm;
- The roots are well developed, at least 15 centimeters long
- No signs of pests and diseases
When planting, the roots of the seedling are carefully straightened, covered with earth, carefully tamped, watered well. Shoots should be cut off, leaving 25 centimeter outgrowths, and the planted bush is spud ten centimeters.
An important role is played by the variety of the selected raspberry. Some varieties produce large, strong berries that are best eaten fresh and which can be transported well. Some varieties produce small berries that are poorly transported, but they make wonderful jams and preserves.
How to get your raspberry seedlings?
Raspberry seedlings can be made independently from seeds, although many are frightened off by difficulties and it is easier for them to acquire annual seedlings. But if you want you can try.
In order to get your own raspberry seedlings, you need to properly prepare the seeds for sowing. Seeds for sowing can only be taken from overripe berries, which are squeezed well and smeared on a cloth or a piece of paper to dry in a ventilated, shaded place. The dried seeds are mixed with sand and sown in a cold greenhouse or box. It should be ensured that the ground is constantly wet and the sun does not hit the landing.
Seeds do not sprout quickly and extremely unevenly, to get raspberry seedlings you need to be patient. When the seedlings have four leaves, they need to be cut open, if the seedlings are dense, put in a greenhouse and shade again so that the borings take root well.
Only by autumn will the young shoots get stronger and they can already be planted in their permanent place.
It seems to me that in order to grow raspberry seedlings on your own, you need to be an avid gardener, for whom such complex events are only a joy.
