Inhibits on the drain, continuous collection of water
Longer programs can also be run due to too slow draining of the water from the tank. We'll have to check some elements of the drain system. It can lead to difficult fluid escape:
- the trash filter is clogged. The element is located in front of the washer, in the lower right corner. It is necessary to clean the part;
- damage to the impeller. Check if its blades are spinning. This can be done through the hole formed after removing the debris filter;
- clogging of the drain pump pipe. To correct the situation, it is necessary to de-energize the MCA, turn off the water supply, lay the machine on its side, find the pump, loosen the clamp that secures the hose and clean the pipe;
- accumulation of dirt in the drain hose or its kink. If defects are found, flush or replace the tubing.
The uncontrolled drainage of water from the tank also increases the duration of the wash. Water can be drawn into the system and immediately discharged into the sewer. This happens due to:
incorrect connection of the CMA. Water is collected up to a certain mark and immediately drained. So, the required amount of water does not enter the tub, and the wash does not start. Check that the drain hose is installed at a height of 60 cm from the floor
It is important to monitor the position of the sleeve relative to the automatic machine;
failure of the pressure switch. The sensor, measuring the water level in the system, sends a signal to the control module about the possibility of starting washing when a sufficient amount of liquid is collected
If the pressure switch is malfunctioning, the level is estimated incorrectly, the washer does not understand whether the tank is empty or full. Therefore, water can constantly descend into the sewer and be recruited. Replacing the sensor will help to fix the problem;
interruptions in the intake valve. In this case, the element does not work normally, but it may not open completely or completely "freeze". You can fix the problem by replacing the part.
Thus, the cycle time increases with a clogged drain system or uncontrolled discharge of water into the sewer. You can cope with the problem yourself. It is enough to inspect the described elements of the Indesit washing machine, clean them or replace them with new ones.
Faulty water sensor
If the drum is constantly spinning and the machine cannot finish washing, then this indicates that the pressure switch or the water sensor level is faulty. This device signals that there is enough water to start washing.
Boris Vitalievich master If the water sensor does not work, then the machine cannot determine the water level, therefore it turns the drum without stopping. Since the program does not work, the washing machine fills in and out of water at the same time, but the washing process does not start. The situation requires replacement of the thermostat.
To repair or replace the pressure switch, you need to disconnect the washer from the power supply and turn off the water supply. On the back wall of the washing machine, the bolts are unscrewed and the cover is removed. The pressostat is mounted on a boring machine. In appearance, it is similar to a disc to which a wiring and a thin tube are attached. The bolts that hold the water sensor are unscrewed and the wiring is disconnected. The clamp that holds the hose is pushed back with pliers.
To check the operation of the device, you need to find a tube and connect it at one end to the fitting. After that, you need to blow into the tube. If the device is working, the wizard will hear clicks. Otherwise, the pressure switch must be replaced. The new device is installed on the side panel of the washing machine and screwed on with screws.In the next step, the tube is connected to the fitting and secured with a clamp. Wires are connected to the connector. The last step is to replace the back cover of the washing machine.
After installing a new part, carry out a test wash. In this case, you need to observe all its stages. The washer should initially take in the required amount of water, and after washing, drain it completely.
What can be done
Depending on the specific established cause of the malfunction of the washing machine, you should take the necessary measures to eliminate it in time.
Most problems can be resolved on their own if you pay attention to them in time and do not start the process. Otherwise, if you do not solve the problem in a timely manner, this can lead to a breakdown, and then the machine will have to be taken to a service center for qualified repair.
Check the pressure in the pipes
First things first, if you find your washing machine is running slowly, check the pressure in the water pipes. It is possible that the water slowly enters the device, not because of its breakdown, but because of faults in the water supply system. The faster water is drawn into the appliance, the faster the washing and rinsing process starts. This is especially true if the pipes have not changed in your house for a long time.
Checking the machine for blockages
Blockages are one of the most common causes of machine malfunctions. Blockages can be mechanical, when small foreign objects get inside, as well as natural, when dirt accumulates inside the device, which, in turn, leads to slower operation.
To clear the blockages, you need to disassemble the device and carefully inspect the filtration and drain system, pumps, siphon, and then remove the detected contamination, reassemble the machine and check its performance.
Checking the correct installation and connection
Carry out a thorough check of the correct installation and connection of the device to the water supply and sewerage system. The problem may be caused by the hoses being incorrectly connected to the machine itself and to the pipes. Because of this, water flows in slowly and drains out slowly.
Repair or replacement of the pressure switch
Slow operation of the mechanism and its shutdown are caused by malfunctions in the operation of the water level sensor. Due to its breakdown, the device incorrectly determines the amount of liquid collected and does not activate the washing process when water is collected.
To check the pressure switch, remove it from the disconnected device. Test it by attaching a ten centimeters long hose to it. Blow into the other end of the hose and listen for sounds in the sensor. Several clicks should occur inside it. If the sensor is damaged, it must be repaired or completely replaced if the malfunction cannot be repaired.
Repair or replacement of heating elements
In many cases, the malfunction is associated precisely with the breakdown of the heating element. A sign of its breakdown in washing machines Bosch, LG, Indesit and other brands is a slow heating of water, or a complete shutdown of heating. This can be caused by scale or natural wear and tear of the heating element, as well as a short circuit due to voltage surges.
First of all, if you find problems with heating, you should remove the heating element and check it for the presence of scale accumulation. Scale should be removed with special cleaning agents. If, after this, the heating rate remains slow, then the heating element must be repaired or replaced.
How to check the thermostat
To check the correct operation of the thermostat, you need to disconnect the machine from the mains, disassemble it and remove the thermostat itself from the heater. Use a micrometer to measure the resistance in the sensor. In normal operation, it will be about six thousand ohms for a temperature of twenty degrees Celsius. Check operation in hot water of fifty degrees.The resistance should drop, and it will be equal to 1350 ohms. If the regulator shows different numbers, it should be completely replaced, since this part cannot be repaired.
Drum overload
The drums in automatic washing machines are designed for a certain weight, exceeding which will interfere with the normal operation of the appliance. Many modern devices are equipped with a load cell
Pay attention to the amount of laundry loaded into the drum
Wrong washing mode selected
If things are very dirty, they must be washed in a special mode - at a water temperature of 90 C. But before subjecting things to heat treatment, be sure to read the label on the clothes, which indicates the permissible temperature and mode.
If high temperatures are contraindicated for things, then wash them in special modes such as “soaking” or “hand washing”, depending on the fabric from which the product is made. If you encounter problems with stains on your clothes, use a special “stain removal” mode or add components intended for this purpose to the detergent.
What happened to the typewriter?
This "symptomatology" is very blurred, it is impossible to single out one exact cause of the breakdown on the fly. However, having analyzed the situation, you can narrow down the range of possible problems in the operation of the equipment. Long-term operation of the washing machine may be due to:
- overloading the drum. It would seem, what does the maximum allowable weight of laundry have to do with it? The fact is that the washing machine spends more time on distributing the laundry over the surface of the drum, as a result of which the cycle is lengthened. It is very simple to solve the problem - take out unnecessary things;
- problem with filling the tank with water. The duration of the wash can be significantly increased if the machine draws on water for a long time. The reason for this may be a clogged filter or inlet hose, or a defect in the filling valve. The water shutoff valve may not be fully open;
- long drain. It takes several minutes to remove the waste liquid from the tank. When starting a standard cycle, water is drained from the system at least 3-4 times. Therefore, if you add another 5-10 minutes for each drain, the program execution time will increase significantly. Water can hardly leave the drum due to a clogged drain hose, debris filter, pump;
- malfunction of heating element or temperature sensor. In this case, the water heats up to the desired temperature much longer, as a result of which the program time increases. It is possible that a lot of scale has accumulated on the heating element, as a result of which its performance has decreased. Also, the problem may lie in a faulty thermistor that incorrectly records the temperature of heating the liquid;
- damage to the main control unit. The main "symptom" of such a breakdown is that the machine starts to "hang" during the wash process, after which it starts the cycle again.
In fact, the list is pretty impressive. To fix a malfunction, you need to carry out diagnostics, discard one possible cause after another, and, finally, understand what kind of failure occurred in the system.
Problems with water heating
This is another very common group of reasons why an automatic machine washes for a long time. In this case, the breakdowns are more serious, requiring repair or replacement of individual parts. All of them are associated with the fact that the technique heats up the water for a long time, because of this it takes more time to complete the programs.
Limescale on the heating element
Yes, advertising does not deceive users: over time, scale forms on the heating element. However, this does not lead to such disastrous consequences as shown in the videos. It's just that the device will need more time to heat the water, because it will have to heat up itself and another layer of scale. A characteristic symptom of this problem is a gradual increase in wash time.
To get rid of limescale, you can do an empty wash with citric acid or a special descaler. If this method fails, the heating element will have to be replaced.
Defective heating element
A heating element is a common electrical device that can fail over time. In this case, the automatic machine usually freezes and does not spin the drum. An error code may appear on the electronic scoreboard. There is only one way out - replacing the heating element.
Faulty water temperature sensor
Here the situation is similar to a thermostat. The temperature sensor does not send a signal to the control module that the water is hot enough. Or the sensor incorrectly detects this indicator. As a result, the process does not start. Or the control module decides to increase the time for the water to warm up enough. And then the machine washes for a long time, waiting for the water to heat up. With such a problem, you will have to change the thermostat to a working one.
Overloading the washing machine
If you put too much laundry in the drum, it will be difficult for the machine to spin it up to the required speed. Uneven loading can have the same effect. The laundry will collect in one place and prevent the drum from spinning normally. As a result, the machine will have to make new attempts to achieve the desired result. It is possible that the machine will work intermittently. From the outside it will seem that the wash is going on, but very slowly.
To avoid this trouble is simple: do not put more laundry in the machine than indicated in the instructions. Also, do not throw things in a lump. This will also complicate the work of the device.
Defective control module
If a failure occurs in the control module, then it may incorrectly execute the program, replace one with another, or simply freeze. All this will lead to the fact that the washing machine will wash for a long time or even stop the process in the middle.
Perhaps this is the most difficult and costly problem, since it will not be possible to repair, reflash or replace the control module on your own. It will be necessary to call the wizard to establish what exactly happened.
Custom errors
The simplest, but quite common reason for the "freezing" of an automatic Indesit machine is an incorrectly selected washing mode
Here it should be reminded again that before starting the washing machine, it is important to study the instructions for the technique. In the user manual, the manufacturer describes in detail the features of special washing programs, options and additions recorded in the intellect.
Therefore, if the machine stops just when a certain mode is executed, it makes sense to re-read the instructions.
For example, if a modern washing machine is tasked with soaking and washing with bleaching, then the machine will probably stop in the middle of the cycle. Do not use the Soak function and Whitening function at the same time.
Self-elimination of such problems will take a lot of effort, time, and not the fact that it will lead to positive results. The master will diagnose the SMA, test the elements of the unit with a multimeter, identify the problem and deal with it professionally.
Causes of malfunctions affecting water heating
There are a number of problems that can cause the lack of water heating in the machine:
- Incorrect selection of the program to be set.
- Incorrect connection of the unit.
- Open circuit of the heating element.
- Breakdown of the heating element.
- Malfunction of the programmer.
- Damage to the thermostat.
Wrong choice of the program to be set
Before you understand why the washing machine does not heat the water, you need to make sure that the washing mode, which is set manually, is selected correctly. This is especially true for those models in which the cycle program and temperature regime are switched on separately. If there is a discrepancy between the choice of program mode and temperature, the machine will default to the set program, and there the temperature may be lower than expected.
To eliminate this problem, you need to read the instructions in detail and make sure that the correct mode is selected.
Incorrect machine connection
If the unit is incorrectly connected, part of the already heated hot water can be discharged into the sewer. With such a malfunction, new cold water constantly flows into the tank, which does not have time to heat up to the desired temperature. In this case, the washing machine does not wash with enough warm or hot water, which negatively affects the quality of the wash.
You can solve the problem by connecting the equipment correctly.
Open circuit of heating element
TEN is a tubular electric heater, on the operation of which the correct heating of water during washing depends.
If the heating element or the wires going to it fail, the washing machine will not be able to heat the water. Before inspecting the heating element itself, you must make sure the integrity of the wires that go to it. Since the wiring is located in the immediate vicinity of the machine body, it is often subjected to mechanical stress, therefore, it can be frayed or damaged.
If during inspection it is found that the wires are defective, they must be soldered and insulated or replaced with new ones.
Breakdown of heating element
Heating element breakage is the most common reason why the washing machine does not heat up the water. The device is constantly heated and then cooled, which often leads to wear. In addition, the element is located in the water, which contributes to the formation of scale.
A faulty heating element requires replacement, but before installing a new element, you must make sure that the old one is out of order. How to check the condition of the heating element? To do this, you need a multimeter that will help determine the resistance of the working device. After watching the video, you can see how they check the performance of the heating element using a multimeter:
The check consists in connecting the terminals of the heating element to the measuring device, in order to identify the value of the resistance of the device. If the obtained figure is equal to the previously calculated resistance value - the heating element is working properly, if the indicators are lower - the device needs to be replaced.
After that, it is necessary to check the breakdown on the heating element case. To do this, turn on the "Continuity Buzzer" function in the multimeter and connect it to the output of the heating device and its body. If the device gives a signal, there is a breakdown of the heating element on the case, and it must be changed, if not, everything is in order with the device.
If it turns out that the machine does not heat the water due to a malfunction of the heating element, it must be removed and a new device installed. This requires:
- Remove the rear panel of the unit housing;
- Disconnect all wiring from the heating element;
- Remove the fasteners;
- Remove the heating device;
- Put a new element in its seat, fix it and connect the wires.
In the process of replacing the heating element, it is important to remember, sketch or photograph the correct position of all wires and fasteners, in order to avoid incorrect connection of the new device
Malfunction of the programmer
The programmer or control module (MU) is responsible for the correct operation of all elements of technology.
If it malfunctions, this may be the main reason why the washing machine does not heat the water. In some cases, it is possible to repair the board. In most cases, a module replacement is required. But you should not do it yourself, without the presence of certain knowledge and skills, since incorrect installation can affect the entire further operation of the washing machine.
Causes
Water supply to the tank is obstructed. Water can enter the washing machine slowly or intermittently for a variety of reasons. This is due both to the condition of the water pipes (for example, sometimes the weak water pressure or blockage in the pipes is the culprit), and to the device itself.So, the normal water supply to the tank can be impeded by the formed blockages in the inlet hose or in the filter.
It is difficult to drain the water from the tank. This problem is the exact opposite of the first, but the effect is the same. If there is always water in the tub, the machine cannot switch to spin mode, as a result of which the wash is delayed. The normal drainage of water is most often interfered with by blockages in the drain system. They usually occur due to foreign objects entering the drain hose or filter, accumulation of detergent residues and dirt deposits.
There is a constant collection and drainage of water. In this case, the washing can continue indefinitely, as the washing machine cannot fix the water level in the tub required to start washing. This problem can occur for two reasons. The first is the mistakes made when installing the device to the sewer pipe. The second is a breakdown or incorrect operation of the water level sensor.
The water in the tank does not heat up. To start the set wash program, it is necessary that the water in the tub is warmed up to the required temperature. If there is no heating, or it goes very slowly, the wash is delayed. Two devices are responsible for heating and controlling the temperature of the water in the tank - a heating element and a thermostat (temperature sensor). The breakdown of one of them leads to the fact that the temperature regime of washing is disrupted and a failure occurs in the operation of the washing machine.
The drum rotates without stopping or, conversely, freezes. Such a malfunction can also lead to the fact that the wash takes a very long time. The most serious reason that causes this problem is the breakdown of the electronic control unit. A less serious cause, which is much easier to fix, is an overloaded drum.
The wash needs to be completed quickly
When does it become necessary to interrupt the program quickly and finish the wash? The most common reasons are unwanted items found in the drum and forgotten items outside the machine that should have been washed. In order to stop the program, we can use a variety of techniques.
The easiest way to stop the car is to press the start / pause button. Pressing once will cause the washing program to be temporarily suspended. After that, you need to wait until the door lock is released and perform the necessary actions, for example, add laundry or remove foreign objects from the drum.
At this stage, we need to be aware that when the program is stopped, the tank of the machine may already be filled with water. And if we open the door, it will rush to the floor, flooding the bathroom or kitchen (and at the same time the neighbors below). If the machine needs to be paused, make sure that the water level in it is below the level of the lower edge of the loading door (some older models draw water up to almost half of the entire tank).
Is the water level in the drum too high? Then it must first be drained - this will be discussed in the corresponding section of our article. You can stop washing by completely interrupting the program - for this, press and hold the start / pause button for a few seconds. This approach will help completely stop the execution of the current program. Then the situation can go in two ways:
- After stopping, the machine does not drain the water and unlocks the door;
- After stopping the machine, it completely drains the water and also unlocks the door.
That is, further behavior depends on the logic of the washing machine, put in by the manufacturer. If the water has not drained, we can activate the appropriate program and wait until the water is completely removed from the drum.
