How to make for home?

Usually, a hanging swing is installed in the apartment for the smallest children. In this case, parts made of wood or plastic are used, since they are lighter than metal ones, but here, too, options are possible. It is worth considering several designs that you can assemble with your own hands.

For the first option, you will need the following materials and tools:

• jeans shorts;
• metal chain;
• rubber hose for watering;
• 4 carbines;
• fittings;
• a coil of wire;
• scissors, pliers, tape measure, hammer, adjustable wrench.

The iron reinforcement must be bent into a ring and inserted into the belt loops on the denim shorts. The joint must be fixed with adhesive tape; for reliability, the ends of the reinforcement must go over each other. Hide the ends of the chain in one-meter lengths of hose so that the child does not accidentally injure his fingers. It is easier to do this with a wire - attach the wire to the end of the chain, insert it inside the hose, then pull it along with the chain through the hose. Next, attach 2 carabiners to the hoop on both sides. The resulting construction of the swing is suspended from the cross-beam of the ceiling, the ends of the chains are fixed with the remaining carabiners. Here is such an original idea for a home swing.

The next option is a wooden (plastic) hanging swing. You will need the following materials and tools:

• seat with backrest;
• twine (rope);
• wooden bar with holes at the ends;
• 2 large (diameter 7–8 mm) nails, hammer and drill.

The seat can be taken ready-made (for example, from a highchair, separating the legs), you can do it yourself from slats or plywood of sufficient thickness. In the backrest on the right and left, closer to the upper edge, make two holes for the rope with a drill. Punch the same holes at the bottom of the seat (at the front edge) and on the side walls (if any). We pass the rope through these holes, not forgetting about the transverse bar-stopper. It should keep your little one from falling out of the front of the swing.

Frame swing

The frame swing for the garden has a solid fixed base. This is a more monumental structure than the rope ones. The design options depend on the selected material.

Log

The swing from the logs is very relevant. Although they look cumbersome, they are very original and reliable.

You can hang the seat on U-shaped, L-shaped and A- or X-shaped frames.

The latter are the easiest to make: a load-bearing crossbar is placed on top of the logs fastened with a cross (about 2.5-2.7 m long and 10-15 cm in diameter). The lower ends of the supports are trimmed at an angle of 45 degrees inward.

Then, screeds in the form of small diameter logs with a length of 2 to 2.3 m at a level of 30-40 cm from the lower ends must be applied to each crosspiece.

We put both crosses and fix the third tensioning log between them at the same height as the first two, and also fix the supporting beam in the upper grooves. The frame of a swing from a log is ready.

It remains to put together and hang a bench. The simplest sitting is quite easily done on a frame made of 5 * 7 cm timber, which is covered with a forty board. The bench parameters are as follows:

• length 150 cm;
• seat depth 50 cm;
• back height 65 cm.

Chains, strong ropes, cables, ropes can be used as suspensions. They are attached to the bench with knots or carabiners.But to attach to the crossbeam, you need two large bolts and two eye nuts.

Suspension installation process:

1. Two holes are drilled through from top to bottom in the load-bearing crossbar at the points of attachment of the suspensions.
2. Bolts are inserted into them, eye-nuts are screwed from below.
3. Ropes or carbines are threaded into the rings of the eye-nuts (if the swing is garden on chains).

If not a rounded log was used, but improvised dead wood trunks, then such a brutal version is obtained, as in the photo.

Next to the large seat, as a combined option, you can hang a single bungee swing on an elongated load-bearing log.

Beams

The material is very easy to assemble, so making a wooden swing from a bar is not difficult, but the skill will not hurt.

For self-manufacture of a swing from a bar, you will need the following material:

• four beams 10 * 10 cm 3 m long on side supports;
• one beam 8 * 8 cm long 2.5 m per crossbar;
• one edged board 3 * 10 * 60 cm for tightening the crosses;
• for a bench: about 12 running meters of a bar with a section of 4.5 * 5.6 cm; 18 running meters of a board 2.6 * 4.6 cm (for the sheathing); suspensions and mounts.

First of all, we collect the crosses. This is done in the same order and according to the same principle as a garden wooden swing made of logs: we mark, cut, fasten, hang a bench or a chair.

And the weather conditions do not affect the product so much. True, there are also disadvantages. It is insect susceptibility, as well as a tendency to rot over time. But still, the material is used to create a swing. We will look at detailed instructions for creating. First you need to prepare the tree. The preparation is as follows:

1. Sand the surface.
2. Make notches and serifs on all the bars.
3. Open them with the first layer of stain, leave to dry, open with a second layer and wait until dry.

They are connected in the same way as the previous ones, at an angle of 30 °, forming an isosceles triangle. The length of the base is 1 m. The length of the base partition is the same 1 m. The length of the additional partition is 45 m, with a 2 cm protrusion from each side. The total width of the swing is 4.5 m, and the width of the bench is 1.5 m. It is suitable for several people.

Instructions for creating:

1. The first two steps are done identically, as with the previous version of the swing. It all starts with upright racks. To do this, you need to take 4 beams, 2 on each side. They need to be placed on the ground like an isosceles triangle. Then you need to take a compass and a pencil to mark one circle on two bars, the diameter of which will be 10 cm.It turns out that on each bar there will be a semicircle with a radius of 5 cm. You need to cut this hole with a grinder and sand it. It remains to check the correctness of the cut. To do this, a bar is inserted into the hole in a horizontal position. If necessary, the hole is repaired.
2. The uprights are installed in a vertical position, after which the horizontal bar is fixed with long bolts with washers and nuts. Manipulation is performed on each side to create the body of the wooden swing.
3. Horizontal partitions made of wood are created. On vertical pillars, it is required to make recesses for them, wielding a chisel and a hammer. It should look like the photo.
4. The first of the partitions will be A-shaped.First of all, a recess is created in it so that a diagonal support goes into it. Depressions are also made in the vertical posts, where the upper and lower partition will be installed. After that, the diagonal bar must be adjusted to the hole in the A-shaped bar. At the end, you need to cut it off at the end at an angle of 45 °, and then fasten it with a bolt.
5. The upper brace is located at a distance of 1.11 m from the base, and the lower one, at a height of 5 cm. The structure is installed in its normal position. Having stepped back from the end of 1.5 m, you need to drill a hole and thread two bolts. Everything is tightened with eye nuts.

It remains to hang the bench and the swing made of wood is ready for use. It is better not to do it yourself, but to take a ready-made one. It is installed in its place.

Stage 3: Installing the backrest and seat slats

Now we are working with the seat slats. We must prepare 8 of them. The two front ones will tightly bend around the armrest supports.

Step 1: Place the first plank flush with the outer surface of the armrest supports. On the edge of the plank, mark the position of the armrest with a pencil. Also remember to mark the bar's internal position on the plank. The bar will protrude 20 mm beyond the block. Mark the section to be removed with a hacksaw. Grind the sections and treat with an antiseptic. Now the bar can be attached with nails (see photo).

Step 2: Place the second bar behind the front. Its groove on the front edge to the bar is 15 mm. We also nail down all the other seat strips, leaving 5 mm gaps between them. Each plank should protrude 17 mm beyond the edge of the timber. Fit the last planks to the rear armrests.

Step 3: On the top plank of the back, step back 100 mm from both edges and mark with straight perpendicular lines. Using a thickness gauge, back out 70 mm and draw a line from the edge to the marked perpendicular. Using a glass or jar, draw the inner and outer curves and saw through them with a jigsaw. Attach the top bar to the rear supports with nails. It should protrude 5 mm beyond the top edge and ends.

Step 4: Nail all the top planks in turn. The third board will bend around the armrest, just like on the seat. Also leave a gap of 5 mm between the planks.

From simple to complex

Even now, the simplest model is a board or a stick attached to a tree branch - however, no longer with a vine, but with a rope. However, modernity makes its own adjustments here too - instead of a board, plastic panels, car tires and other improvised items are used. However, in terms of convenience and pleasantness of use, a board made of natural wood is still in the lead.

The design is extremely simple, such a garden swing with your own hands is made in half an hour or an hour. Holes for the rope are drilled in the board, a cord or rope is passed through them, and fixed. Next, the rope is tied to a tree branch, a gazebo beam or a veranda - and voila! You can ride. It is even easier if a child's hanging swing made of plastic or wooden slats is used as a seat.

However, there is not always a strong tree with a suitable branch at hand, so it is better not to be lazy and make a full-fledged wooden swing - with support posts, a crossbar and a seat suspension in the form of a rope or chain.

U-shaped garden swing made of wood

The simplest option is a U-shaped structure made of relatively powerful struts with a cross member.Supports are usually dug into the ground, often supplemented with side braces and other reinforcing elements.

They are made very simply:

• two supporting pillars are dug into the ground to a depth of 0.5 ... 0.8 m. The verticality of the pillars is checked by the level. The soil around them is rammed, you can add rubble or concrete the bases of the pillars;
• a transverse beam (log, solid board) is laid on the tops, attached to the supports using the cutting method, fasteners or kerchiefs (you can combine the methods);
• holes are drilled in the crossbar for suspension (this can be done before installation);
• are hung on the ropes of the swing.

If a chain is used as a suspension, it is better to screw massive hooks into the crossbar from below and attach the chain to them using carabiners or rings. However, this method is also suitable for a rope.

You can move the crossbar outside the side supports and hang a rope ladder or climbing rope from it.

An interesting version of the U-shaped wooden garden swing is the model presented below made of solid trunks with an arcuate crossbar, additional supports of the racks and the swing fastening not to the crossbar, but to horizontally located auxiliary beams.

A-shaped swing for giving with your own hands

More practical and stable is the A-shaped scheme of a garden swing. In this version, the side supports are not a separate, vertically installed pillar, but a triangular structure with or without crossbars (L-shaped scheme). If there are additional ties, such a wooden swing for a summer residence can be placed simply on the ground, especially if they are heavy enough - for example, made of logs. However, for reliability, it is better to dig the supports into the ground.

Crossbars in an A-shaped structure can be located:

• at the top, less than a quarter of the height below the connection of the supports - in fact, this is a variant of the connecting gusset;
• about halfway up;
• at ground level or slightly higher (so that the tree does not rot from constant contact with wet, and sometimes frankly wet ground);
• below ground level.

Additionally, the cross members can connect both A-pillars at the back, front, middle or both sides.

Sometimes there are no additional cross members at all. In this case, in order to preserve the rigidity of the structure, the parts of the supports are connected by the cutting method (for example, "half-tree"). This method of connection is perfectly familiar to everyone who has ever installed wooden rafters.

Pros and cons of a summer cottage swing from a bar

The timber in the manufacture of swings is most often in demand.

The popularity is due to many advantages:

1. For a timber structure, the easiest way is to make drawings or find suitable diagrams on the Internet.
2. The finished timber practically does not require additional processing. The building material only needs to be cut into pieces of the required length, corresponding to the dimensions of the drawing.
3. The swing looks beautiful, decorates the site. The sturdy frame can withstand heavy loads.
4. An attraction for adults and children is assembled from a bar with their own hands. The drawing is used the same, only the section of the building material is different.

Even in the photo, do-it-yourself swing from a bar looks presentable. However, the wooden attraction has its drawbacks.
