Paintings and photos
Probably the most understandable and obvious thing, but for some reason very few people do it. Almost all of my friends and peers, like me, live in rented apartments, but no one ennobles their homes in any way. And the first thing I did was put my mother's picture on the wall, put photos of my relatives on the dresser. And she hung a horseshoe in the hallway for good luck, from my dad's horse, on which he often rode. Do not laugh, this is really so))).
Accessories and useful things
I always carry with me from place to place my favorite kitchen knives and a set of towels (10 pieces of different green shades). These bright accessories fill the kitchen with a sense of something close and familiar. And when my boyfriend put his acoustic guitar in the corner of the living room, the apartment was filled with comfort.
Pillows, ottomans and rugs
Personally, I am not a fan of these accessories, with the exception of the bathroom rug. However, it would be foolish not to recognize their significance. Honestly, I even thought about buying a set of different green pillows and a green rug for the hallway (to match the color of my towels), but I understand that this is simply not mine.
Lamps and fixtures
In European countries, the overhead light is not accepted at all. Everyone uses a lot of wall lights, lamps, etc. I have two family lamps, one old, my grandmother's, in the English style, and a modern one that echoes my grandmother's. These two lamps give warm light to the entire interior of the apartment.
Flowers
Houseplants can fill a lifeless space with freshness. Since I personally try to travel often and do not stay at home for a long time, and flowers, as you know, need to be watered), I don’t bring them. But all my friends carry their pots from one apartment to another. In my opinion, it is very cute and cozy.

If you are moving into an apartment for a long time, for example, you have entered into a contract for a year already, then you can take on more radical changes.
Your curtains
Curtains attract a lot of attention. And the owners of apartments for rent often save money, and do not try to buy interesting accessories, choosing neutral shades to please all tenants. Buying your own curtains will add your own style, but think about combinations. New curtains can also be in a bright color if it fits into the interior.
Own chandelier
Just imagine, you have a grandfather's family chandelier, which you just carry from one rented apartment to another. Maybe it's time for her to find her place? But seriously, you can even buy any chandelier you like. Believe me, replacing it is even easier than hanging the curtains.
