Red currant care
At their dacha, people grow various plants. As a rule, these are flowers, berry bushes, vegetables, as well as fruit trees.
Among the berry bushes, the red currant stands out, which gives a useful harvest. Its berries contain many useful substances, and the leaves are used for making decoctions, as well as for canning.
As you know, the quality and quantity of the crop directly depends on the care and growing conditions. Caring for red currants consists in processing and fertilizing the soil, destroying weeds, protecting against all kinds of pests and constant watering.
For the healthy development of the currant bush in early spring, dry branches should be removed. The soil should be loosened and nitrogenous fertilizers applied. For each bush, 50 grams is enough. If you want to make the bush even, you can make special stands for the branches, which will correct the growth of the plant. Mulching is usually done at the same time. For this, a mixture of peat and manure is used.
Caring for red currants in the summer, as a rule, consists of abundant watering, especially during dry periods. Also, in the summer, you can tie the branches to prevent the berries from falling to the ground. When various pests appear on the bush, appropriate measures should be taken. In most cases, spraying the bush with special agents is required.
In the autumn, the soil should be fertilized with superphosphate (about 120 g per bush) and potassium chloride (about 40 g per bush). In a snowy winter, it is recommended to cover the bushes with snow in order to protect the root system from freezing.
