Useful properties of geranium
The geranium family consists of more than three hundred plant species scattered around the world. The second and more official name for geranium is pelargonium. It is used in scientific texts. An unpretentious home flower, which many housewives grow at home, is the result of crossing different natural species. It is perennial, does not require special living conditions, it blooms beautifully and, in addition, has other advantages, which I will discuss below.
There are various rumors among the people about pelargonium. They say that she is even capable of scaring away all evil spirits, not allowing her to step on the threshold of your house. But since superstitious people in our 21st century are not often found, we should look for more compelling arguments proving the beneficial properties of geraniums.
At one time, people noticed that in houses where this flower grows, they get sick less often. Scientists began to conduct experiments, and it turned out that such microorganisms as staphylococcus and the like die on its leaves. In addition, geranium releases bactericidal substances into the air, creating an unfavorable environment for the development of infections.
For use in folk recipes, the leaves and roots of the plant are taken. To treat pharyngitis, you can gargle with geranium broth. In case of bleeding, it is used to improve clotting. Preparations from it are advised to be taken by patients with gastritis (high acidity), hypertensive patients, heart patients.
Geranium has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. As a first aid for otitis media, you can knead a leaf of this plant with your fingers and put it in your ear. The same "medicine" is applicable for the relief of toothache. For small children, a leaf is tied to the cheek, for adults it can be placed on the cheek, in the place where it hurts.
I've heard that geranium has many contraindications. Therefore, it is better not to experiment with your health once again.
