Useful properties of viburnum berries
The medicinal and beneficial properties of the viburnum berry determine its use in medicine. Viburnum blooms in late May or early June, and the berries are harvested in August and September.
The red berries of the viburnum contain twice as much ascorbic acid than citrus fruits. It contains five times more iron salts than lemons and oranges. Viburnum is also rich in vitamins, it contains vitamins A, K and E. Viburnum fruits belong to diabetic products. They contain tannins and pectins, sugars, essential oils, amino acids, and phytoncides that kill pathogenic microbes.
The beneficial properties of viburnum berries are used in cosmetology. Creams and face masks are prepared from it. It has tonic, revitalizing and rejuvenating properties.
In medicine, fruits, bark and flowers of viburnum are used. Viburnum berries are used to treat hypertension, gastritis, atherosclerosis, colitis, peptic ulcer, colds, vascular spasms. Viburnum berries with honey are useful for coughs, inflammation of the upper respiratory tract, cardiac edema. The juice from the leaves is used as a tonic and for skin diseases.
Infusion of flowers is useful for gastritis, painful menstruation. A decoction of flowers and berries is used to gargle with sore throat and a hoarse voice. Viburnum berries can be used in any form. Fresh berries have a laxative effect.
Viburnum preparations act mildly, have low toxicity, there are no side effects. Jelly, preserves and compotes, jellies, juices and fruit drinks are prepared from viburnum berries.
We freeze the viburnum, and in winter we brew it in a thermos. My grandmother has hypertension, she drinks this tea all the time. And I insist on it myself, put it in an ice mold and in the freezer. Then I rub my face with such cubes.
