Garden blueberry varieties - the best of the best
The garden blueberry belongs to the heather family and is the "sister" of a very useful berry - blueberry. But blueberries also boast many beneficial properties: they sharpen the visual acuity, normalize the digestion process, and strengthen the walls of blood vessels, although they are inferior in taste to blueberries.
Garden blueberry bushes grow strongly branching, outwardly do not differ from blueberry bushes. There are varieties of garden blueberries that are low - 30-50 cm, and there are also those that reach a height of 3 meters!
The advantage of blueberries is resistance to diseases and pests, it is a long-lived plant: one bush can live up to 100 years, does not require a lot of effort in its care.
Fruiting in garden blueberries begins at 3-4 years of growth, from one plant, depending on the variety, you can get from 1.5 to 10 kg of berries. Productivity increases in rainy summers and when plants are planted with the possibility of cross-pollination.
Winter-hardy varieties of garden blueberries for planting in central Russia should be chosen. Of the currently known varieties, the following can be recommended:

- tall: Northcountry, Patriot, Bluetta, Weymourt, Northland.
- medium-yielding (from 4 to 7 kg): Stanley, Bluetta, Duke, Hardible, Ivanhoe, Blue Brigitte, River, Berkeley.
- high-yielding (from 6 to 8 kg): Spartan, Nelson, Bluegold, Rankokos, Bluecrop, Patriot.
