Growing ampelous lobelia
This delicate and fragile flower is famous for its abundant flowering and extraordinary color. Small-colored lobelia has many bright blue shades - it can be lilac, blue, violet, dark blue. There are also varieties of lobelia with red and white flowers.
Lobelia is suitable for growing in all conditions. So, ampelous lobelia looks good in pots and hanging baskets, it can be planted in long pots, which will then decorate the outside of the balconies. Lobelia is also good in the open field - its lush flowering is always in place along the curbs, in flower beds and ridges. This plant is often part of an alpine slide.
Growing ampelous lobelia, as well as its other varieties, begins with harvesting seeds. Here it is better to trust trusted horticultural organizations and purchase seeds in company stores. The seeds of this plant are very small and require some knowledge when planting:
- they should be sown as rarely as possible in the soil that has been previously disinfected;
- Lobelia seeds can only germinate in sunlight. That is why they do not need to be covered with earth.
Growing ampelous lobelia will be most successful if a thin layer of calcined sand is poured over the disinfected soil. If the pot or tub with lobelia seeds is placed in a warm place, then the first shoots can be expected after 15 days.
Young seedlings should be watered with a weak solution of potassium permanganate, which will protect the plant from some diseases. It is important to monitor the condition of the earthen coma - it should not dry out.
To accelerate the growth of lobelia, you need to dive sprouts. The most appropriate time for this procedure is when the plant has acquired the first pair of true leaves.
