Growing godetia from seeds

For many amateur flower growers, growing godetia from seeds is not only not difficult, but also brings great pleasure.

Godetia is a very beautiful annual plant, which usually does not exceed sixty centimeters in height. Lush inflorescences of large double and simple flowers are located on a thin, branched stem. The color of the flowers can be very diverse: pink, lilac, white, raspberry, lilac. There are also variegated colors.

One of the advantages of godetia is its long and abundant flowering before the onset of frost.

Around March or April, godetia begins to grow from seed to obtain seedlings. Since the plant easily tolerates minor frosts, it is possible to transplant seedlings into open ground in mid-May. If the cultivation is carried out by seeds, then at the same time the seeds can be sown in open ground.

For godetia, it is best to choose a sunny, open place. The soil should be nutrient-rich and acid-neutral. Waterlogging or dry soil will impair the flowering of godetia.

When planting seedlings in the ground, it is recommended to maintain a distance between plants of about 25 centimeters. Godetia is a very delicate plant, therefore it is difficult to tolerate a transplant. In this regard, it is better to transplant with a large clod of earth. And immediately before flowering, it is recommended to feed the godetia with a special fertilizer for flowering plants.

Various varieties of godetia can decorate not only a summer cottage or garden plot, but also any apartment balcony.
