Flowering period
Most attractive view spurge lustrous has a flowering period that lasts from spring to autumn. Flowers appear en masse on each shoot, but they attract attention, in fact, not the flowers themselves - nondescript and small, the bracts give the milkweed decorativeness. Extremely bright, they can be yellow, white, red, pink, the saturation and brightness of which depends on the quality of the plant.
Conditions of detention
Flower growers adore euphorbia not only for its exquisite beauty - the plant is distinguished by its unpretentiousness, undemanding conditions of keeping. For its normal development, it is enough to place the pot in a lighted place, all other conditions can simply be missed. The illumination of the place can be maximum, it is not bad if the direct rays of the sun will fall on it. The resulting solar energy will give the luscious milkweed the power for vigorous growth and lush, long-lasting flowering.
Lack of light will lead to thinning of the stems and pallor of the leaves, such a plant will not bloom.
Care
As we said, special care spurge shiny does not require. Watering it often should not be, it is desirable that the soil has time to dry out between waterings. But you should not be sorry when watering water. In winter, abundant watering reduces, but at the same time monitors the condition of the soil, especially if a central heating battery is located next to the hill. The soil under the plant should always be slightly moistened. With a prolonged lack of moisture, euphorbia can shed its leaves, of course, its appearance will become completely unattractive. Fortunately, such symptoms do not mean the death of the plant, nature has prepared it for survival in harsh arid conditions. With the beginning of normal watering, Mil's spurge comes to life, actively overgrows with leaves.
The plant is much more painful to waterlogging of the soil, leading to decay of the roots. Also, in order to avoid the occurrence of fungal diseases, do not pour water directly onto the stems or leaves of the plant. When keeping a flower outdoors in the summer, you need to think about how to protect it from rain drops. It is best to place the pot on a terrace or veranda.
The plant also does not need air humidification, it feels fine on a hot summer day, it is not afraid of dry air in the apartment during the heating season.
Reproduction
Ideally, the plant should be planted in the soil for succulent plants, or a mixture of sand and leafy soil, but a good result can be achieved in the case of using land taken just in the garden. Fertilizers should be applied during the flowering period, you can use liquid fertilizers intended for succulents, not more than once every 15 days.
It is advisable to replant young plants every year, adults - if the entire space of the pot is filled with roots.Do not forget, the roots of the plant are afraid of excessive moisture, it is imperative to equip good drainage in the pot!
Propagated by euphorbia stem cuttings. It is best to plant in spring and early summer. The juice from the stem is washed off, the cut is dried, then it is planted directly into a mixture of sand and peat. You can also germinate cuttings in water - they will not rot. The roots on the planted cuttings will appear in 1.5 - 2 months. To form a beautiful young bush, you can pinch the top of the plant.
Spurge shiny, even with excellent care, with age it can lose its decorative appearance, its branches become bare and crooked, too stretched. To prevent such negative changes, shoots should be carefully trimmed in the spring, about half the length. This will give an incentive for the emergence of new shoots, the bush will become fluffier, its flowering will be more active.
Milkweed Enemies
Of the pests, the brilliant euphorbia is afraid only of the whitefly and the spider mite. To a much greater extent, euphorbia suffers from improper, too abundant watering. Those who want to start growing milkweed in their apartment should remember that the plant sap is poisonous. It should not be placed in children's rooms, and when transplanting and pruning a plant, medical gloves should be worn to avoid contact of the milk released from the branches with the skin.
Until now, I have associated the word "spurge" exclusively with weeds, which are not so easy to remove from the beds. I did not even suspect that there is such a beautiful euphorbia, grown specially.
In my house, such a spurge has been growing for 5 years, however, it began to bloom only last summer. I could not understand the reason - the leaving remained the same. But even without flowers, it looks very picturesque :)
