Nightshade sunberry
We are all used to picking berries from trees or shrubs that are many years old. But there are plants with berries that look like cherries that only grow for a year. The nightshade sunberry is an annual plant that sometimes grows up to 2 meters. This type of plant was bred by scientists from a feral relative of the nightshade.
Any soil is suitable for planting nightshade, the main thing is that they have a neutral level of acidity. The place should be sunny and free of drafts. The plant does not tolerate strong winds and drafts.
Nightshade has a long growing season, so you need to grow seedlings first. Before sowing seeds, they must be soaked in a solution of potassium permanganate. After that, the seeds must be washed. So that the seeds sprout faster, they can be dipped in hot water. Sometimes, to accelerate growth, the seed is cut from the side where it should germinate. But this must be done very carefully.
When 3 leaves appear, it is necessary to transplant the seedlings to the prepared place. Planting is carried out at a stable warm temperature in May or June. The distance between the plants should be about 100 cm. When planting in rows, there should be at least 100 cm between them. After planting, the seedlings must be watered abundantly.
Further care for this plant is very simple. It is necessary to weed the ground, water in the case of dry soil. During growth, you can feed the nightshade up to two times. You need to feed this plant with a mullein. During growth, to strengthen the plant, it must be hilled. Good luck growing your Sunberry nightshade and a good harvest.
