Peony care

Peonies are very beautiful flowers, which are one of the most common in flower beds in our area. They bloom in early June. It is difficult to imagine the holiday of the Last Call without peony bouquets.

Caring for peonies does not require much effort and time. They can generally grow and bloom without any maintenance. But, in order to preserve their decorative qualities, it is necessary, nevertheless, to adhere to some rules for growing peonies.

Firstly, peonies are very fond of the sun. Therefore, they must be planted in a place open to the sun on the south side of the house.

Secondly, the planting depth should not be too deep. The roots are planted deep in the ground, they begin to ache and rot.

Thirdly, from time to time it is necessary to dig the ground around the bushes, since the plant loves loose soil.

Fourthly, at least three times a season, peonies need to be fed with saltpeter and humus.

Fifth, the plant loves moisture. If you water it systematically, it will grow and develop better.

Sixth, a three to four year old bush blooms best. But already at the age of 8-10 years, it must be divided and transplanted in order to continue its ability to bloom beautifully.

Seventh, the faded flowers need to be cut off.

Eighth, in order for the flowers to be large, it is necessary to leave one bud on one peduncle, cutting off all the others.

Ninth, the bush often needs to be tied up so that it does not fall and fall apart in different directions.

In early spring, as soon as the snow melted and the first steams of the plant began to break through, the peony should be watered with a not too saturated solution of manganese (2-3 g per 10 liters of water per 1-2 bushes). This is a good way to disinfect the soil, protect the plant from diseases and parasites, and accelerate its growth and development.
