Grapes, care

Grapes are perhaps everyone's favorite fruit. It is eaten, juice is pressed from it, wine is made from it and much more. At the moment, there are many varieties of grapes that are adapted to different climatic zones. And so you decided to plant grapes, caring for it will not be easy.

When planting grapes and in the first year of its life, in no case should it be pruned. After planting, it is necessary to regularly weed the grapes and water if necessary. Such a need can come only in dry summers.

After several years of growth, the grapes must be pruned. Pruning is done every year. First of all, pruning begins with the removal of coppice and weak shoots. This cleaning is carried out from the base of the vine and moves towards its end.

After that, the pinching procedure is done. To do this, cut off the top of the green shoot. This procedure is done a few days before the flowering of the grapes. This is followed by the procedure for removing stepchildren. Delete them selectively. All stepchildren who are not woody are removed completely, the rest are up to the size of 4 leaves.

In addition to this pruning, when the fruit ripens, leaves are removed that block the sun. Remove no more than 5 leaves around the bunch. This entire pruning procedure is best done in the fall.

After pruning the vine, you can fertilize it. It is in the fall that it is good to feed the grapes. Potassium-phosphorus fertilizer (up to 100 grams per 1 sq.m.) and nitrogen fertilizer (up to 8 kg per 1 sq.m.) are applied under the bush.

Before winter, the vine is lowered to the ground to protect it from damage. Some grape varieties are covered with insulation. The insulation is removed in April, when the weather is stable and not sunny. Good luck with your grape growing and a good harvest.
