Cossack juniper: landing features

Soft needles of a wide variety of shades, ranging from rich dark green to bluish-gray, exuding a delicate refined aroma, as well as extreme undemanding conditions of maintenance, determine the disposition of gardeners and designers to juniper. A special place among this species is occupied by the so-called Cossack juniper. Let's consider in more detail the rules for planting it.

The only criterion for choosing a planting site for this plant is a sufficient amount of sunlight. Cossack juniper grows really beautiful exclusively under the sun, and in the shade it will lose all its high decorative qualities, becoming loose and shapeless. The distance between adjacent bushes should be at least a meter so that they do not interfere with each other. As for the size of the planting pit, they, first of all, depend on the volume of the earthen coma, as well as the size of the root system of the plant, and, as a rule, are about one and a half meters in diameter and 70 centimeters in depth. At the bottom of the pit, a drainage layer of sand and broken brick should be made, and a mixture of peat, sand and turf in a ratio of 2: 1: 1 should be used to cover the roots.

You should especially carefully approach the choice of planting material, giving preference to seedlings with a closed root system. Also suitable are seedlings from containers that can be transplanted to a permanent place throughout the season, but plants with an open root system are better not to take. The fact is that the timing of their planting is very limited: they can be planted only in April-May, as well as August-September.
