Pink periwinkle is not only a beautiful plant
Periwinkle is sung in folk songs, it is present in many traditional rituals, is widely used in folk medicine, decorates window sills and flower beds ... Hearing the word "periwinkle", we immediately imagine blue flowers against the background of dark green leaves, but there is also pink periwinkle - evergreen small shrub with pink flowers.
The homeland of this plant is Indonesia, but it is in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and the Carpathians that pink periwinkle is harvested as a medicinal plant, and is also grown as a greenhouse plant. Calantus (this is another name for periwinkle) is quite easy to grow, it is not picky about soil moisture. In the spring it can be planted in a flower garden, and in the winter - in a pot, so you can admire all its beauty for a whole year.
The use of periwinkle pink in medicine
Calantus contains about 60 alkaloids, therefore it is widely used in medicine as a means to fight cancer, including cancer (lung cancer, ovarian cancer, stomach cancer, rectal cancer), to treat diarrhea, to stop bleeding. Pink periwinkle is able to calm the nervous system, therefore it is used as a sedative. It also relieves headaches and dizziness well, increases the elasticity of capillaries and improves heart function.
In addition, flowers, leaves, and young shoots of pink periwinkle are used for medicinal purposes.
You can also grow calanthus from seeds - in February, sow seeds into fertile soil, cover with foil and put in a dark place.
