Rovada red currant

The Rovada red currant variety comes from Holland. It is a slightly spreading, medium-sized bush with medium-sized leaves. The clusters of flowers are dense, with 10-20 flowers in each. The berries are large and firm, have a dark red color and a rounded shape. They have a pleasant sweet and sour taste. Rovada currant has a high yield, up to 10 kg. from one bush.

After ripening, the berries do not crumble, so they can be harvested within 1.5 months. Even if the berries are overripe, they still do not crumple. Late flowering protects the bush from spring frosts. There are practically no barren flowers, the ovary is 100%. Ripening is also late - in the third decade of July. Ripe berries can be eaten fresh, as well as processed into jams, jellies and juices.

Agrotechnics

Currants should be planted in well-humidified and well-lit places that are protected from the wind. The depth of the groundwater must be at least one meter. Saplings should be planted in early spring or fall. In the planting pit, the root system must fit completely. Bushes should be planted in rows, the distance between which should not be less than 2 m. The distance between bushes in a row is 1.5 m.

Before planting, the root system of the bush should be soaked in water for 3-5 hours. It is better to cut off diseased and broken roots. The aboveground part of the seedling should be no more than 15-20 cm. When planting rovada, the seedling should be placed at an angle and deepened by 7-9 cm above the root neck. After planting, the bush should be watered, and then mulch the soil with sawdust or peat in a layer up to 10 cm.

In the future, the soil around the bush must be loosened and regularly watered and fed in order for the currant rovada to take root well.
