Device and principle of operation

According to this criterion, they are conventionally divided into two groups. The first group is represented by models designed for walk-behind tractors and motor-cultivators. Auger cleaners consist of a volumetric box with a missing front wall and an auger installed inside it. The auger is a metal shaft equipped with a screw-shaped narrow plate and attached to the side walls of the box with bearings. The screw mechanism is driven by the power take-off shaft of the walk-behind tractor, with which it is connected by a belt or chain drive.
The principle of operation of the auger snow thrower is quite simple and consists in the following:

In order to use the tool as snow removal equipment, the cutting knife is changed to an impeller and this structure is placed in a metal casing. In the upper part of the casing, there is a discharge chute - a deflector equipped with a movable valve that allows you to change the direction of discharge of snow masses. Such a device works on the principle of a shovel, with the only difference that it does not have to be lifted: when moving on the ground, the blade mechanism will grab the snow and throw it to the side through a shortened deflector.
Such nozzles are not equipped with auger, which greatly simplifies their design. In terms of the efficiency of snow removal, the trimmer attachment is significantly inferior to powerful rotary and auger samples, however, it copes well with clearing paths in the country or in the courtyard of a private house. The disadvantage is the fact that the petrol trimmer cannot be used as a tractor and does not have large and wide wheels, like a walk-behind tractor, which is why you have to make certain efforts and push it forward on your own.

The hiller is the second most important tool after the plow and winch. With its help, you can first cut the furrows for planting, and then fill them with planting material.

A significant drawback of such structures is their high energy consumption. The reason for this is that in the process of operation, the wings of the tool move the soil to the side, part of which, after passing through it, nevertheless crumbles back into the furrow. As a result, the back and arms get tired faster, and some of the engine power is wasted on useless work. But despite this, they are one of the most popular models among most gardeners.
Option # 3 - disc models
Disk hillers cost an order of magnitude more expensive than their traditional counterparts, but the efficiency of working with such tools is many times greater
